the objective of this study was to formulate and evaluate the drug-polymer interaction of mefenamic acid (ma) using two polymers with different characteristics as ethylcellulose (ec) and/or cellulose acetate phthalate (cap). microspheres were prepared by the modified emulsion solvent evaporation (mese). the effect of drug-polymer interaction was studied for each of microspheres. important param...

Large area uniform nanofibers have been fabricated from a hexameric arylene-ethynylene macrocycle (1) through in situ self-assembly on a glass substrate during solvent evaporation. The fibril morphology is controlled by the solvophilic core of 1, in conjunction with the interfacial interactions between the side chains of 1 and the substrate.

Evaporative self-assembly of dilute solutions containing single-chain polymeric nanoparticles results in characteristic morphologies imaged using atomic force microscopy. Quantitative comparison of experimental data to morphologies obtained by lattice-gas simulations shows that the nonequilibrium patterns emerge from a complex interplay between dewetting, solvent evaporation and nanoparticle di...

A facile method for preparing highly monodisperse, sub-micrometre conjugated polymer particles is reported. The particles are prepared through emulsification of a conjugated polymer solution on a microfluidic chip followed by solvent evaporation. The particle size is tuned between 150 nm to 2 μm, by controlling the polymer concentration.

Evaporation-driven colloidal self-assembly is a promising family of routes to large-area, low-cost, if imperfect, photonic crystals. The simplest example occurs at the surface of a stagnant, evaporating colloidal suspension. For an evaporating colloidal suspension in which the interface falls faster than the particles sediment, particles will accumulate at the solvent-air interface. If neither ...

Organic nanodots of a cation radical salt of amphiphilic bis-TTF annulated macrocycle derivative were fabricated on mica surface by cast technique. The nanodots, whose diameter and height of nanodots depended on the surface positions, were arranged on mica surface during the solvent evaporation process.

We have systematically studied the self-organization of poly(3-hexylthiophene) (P3HT), an electrochromic material, upon control of the solvent evaporation rate. We characterized these polymer films using atomic force microscopy and X-ray diffraction measurements. Well-ordered P3HT structures were developed after solvent annealing; these highly crystalline structures exhibited enhanced electroch...

The spin coating of thin (> 200 nm thick) and ultrathin (< 200 nm thick) polymer films is examined in several solvents of varying volatility over a broad range of polymer solution concentrations and spin speeds. Experimentally measured film thicknesses are compared with a simple model proposed by Bornside, Macosko, and Scriven, which predicts film thickness based on the initial properties of th...

We obtain improved asymptotic solutions to the spin-coating with small evaporation model. In particular, the spinning of a solute-free fluid, and a two-component solvent–solute solution are studied. In addition, the non-negligible effect of the rise of solute concentration on the solution viscosity at the end of the spin-coating process is considered. 2013 Elsevier Inc. All rights reserved.
