This paper presents a novel fiber spraying process for the manufacturing of short bundle-reinforced Nextel™ 610/Al2O3-ZrO2 oxide composites (SF-OFC) and its characterization. First, influence varying lengths (7, 14, 28 mm, continuous fibers) orientations (unidirectional 0°, quasi-isotropic, ±45°) was investigated using hand-laid SF-OFC. Due to weak matrix, material exhibited strongly fiber-domi...

We report a simple, green and cost-effective approach to synthesize high-quality reduced graphene oxide/chitosan composites for determining flubendiamide. Graphene oxide was obtained by electrochemical exfoliation of pencil using DC supply system.

Composites prepared by grafting poly(3-hexylthiophene) (P3HT) onto the surfaces of reduced graphene oxide (RGO) (RGO-g-P3HT) exhibit an enhanced photothermal effect due to photoinduced energy transfer from P3HT to RGO. A remote photo-controlled electrical switch was prepared using RGO-g-P3HT as a photothermal layer.

The failure mechanisms of Oxide-Oxide ceramic matrix composites AS-N610 were studied at both room temperature and high using tensile fatigue tests with without lateral laminar notches. unnotched coupons had an average strength 423 MPa elastic modulus 97 GPa showing a perfect behaviour whereas the notched samples shown similar 425 (98 GPa) revealing pseudo-ductile behaviour. A reduction in oxide...

Growth of silicalite with graphene oxide (GO) nanosheets occurred via attachment of GO onto the silicalite surface, and entrapment of GO nanosheets inside single crystals. Electrically conductive composites were produced by calcination in nitrogen whereas silicalite crystals with slit-like mesopores of sizes 20-25 Å were obtained after GO burn-off.

Amphiphilic reduced graphene oxide is obtained by oleo-functionalization with epoxidized methyl oleate (renewable feedstock) using a green process. The excellent diverse solvent-dispersivity of the oleo-reduced amphiphilic graphene and its reduction chemistry are confirmed in this study. Oleo-reduction of amphiphilic graphene is amenable to industrially viable processes to produce future graphe...

Herein, large pore mesostructured cellular silica foam coated magnetic oxide composites (MO@MCFs) with multilamellar vesicle shells (MO@MLVs) were obtained, which exhibited a large pore (>10 nm), strong magnetic response (38 emu g(-1)), excellent protein adsorption and slow drug-release capacity.

Detonated nanodiamonds (NDs) exhibit remarkable photocatalytic activity towards the hydrogen gas generation upon 532 nm laser pulse irradiation. Hydrogenation dramatically increases the quantum yield, suggesting that hydrogen-terminated sites work as electron reservoirs. NDs can also be used as effective photocatalysts to reduce graphene oxide. The resulting composites exhibit high and stable p...

We demonstrate a novel synthetic route to fabricate a one-dimensional peapod-like Sb@C structure with disperse Sb submicron-particles encapsulated in carbon submicron-tubes. The synthetic route may well serve as a general methodology for fabricating carbon/metallic fine structures by thermally reducing their carbon-coated metal oxide composites.
