We study mixing properties of generalized T,T−1 transformations. discuss two mechanisms. In the case fiber dynamics is mixing, it sufficient that driving cocycle small with probability. only assumed to be ergodic, one needs use shearing cocycle. Applications include central limit theorem for sufficiently fast systems and estimates on deviations ergodic averages.

ii Acknowledgments A lot of people contributed to this thesis in different ways. First, I would like to thank Prof. Matthias Fuchs for the opportunity to work under his supervision. I profitted enormously from his instructions and our discussions. He was always available when I needed help. I also thank him for being very exacting concerning my results, which forced me to optimize my arguments ...

In this paper, the mechanism of fault pressurization in rapid slip events is analyzed on the basis of a complete characterization of the thermo-poro-mechanical behavior of a clayey gouge extracted at 760m depth in Aigion fault in the active seismic zone of the Gulf of Corinth, Greece. It is shown that the thermally collapsible character of this clayey gouge can be responsible for a dramatic red...

We examine the development of a transient spiral arm in a disk galaxy made up of both gas and stars. To this end we have performed numerical simulations in a shearing sheet (basically a rectangular patch of a disc) that contains gas in the form of clouds behaving like Brahic’s (1977) sticky particles, and stars that appear as a background continuum providing the perturbation forces. These are c...

Abstract: This paper describes a shearing interferometer with four diffraction gratings for dividing light waves. It allows us to use an extended white light source. This feature of the interferometer is discussed and demonstrated by experiments. By constructing the interferometer for testing transparent object, phase distribution of the light wave passing through an optical lens is measured wi...

Digital shearograohy has demonstrated great potential in revealing defects in objects especially in detecting delaminations in composite materials. It is gaining more and more acceptance by automotive and aerospace industries in the field of nondestructive testing (NDT) of composite materials. A key optical component used in shearography is a shearing device in which the shearing amount, sheari...

The anisotropic fatigue properties of three Ni-based SX superalloys (AM1, CMSX-4 and MC-NG) were investigated in the very high cycle regime at 20 kHz, R = ?1 750 °C. testing shows that [111] orientation has higher lives stresses lower low compared to standard [001] orientation. At stresses, resolved shear stress on octahedral slip systems explains anisotropy effect. pseudo-cube matrix becomes p...

Graphene annulus possesses special wrinkling phenomenon with wide range of potential applications. Using molecular dynamics simulation, this study concerns the effect of boundary on the mechanical properties of circular and elliptical graphene annuli under circular shearing at inner edge. Both the wrinkle characteristic and torque capacity of annular graphene can be effectively tuned by outer b...

BACKGROUND Fragmentation at random nucleotide locations is an essential process for preparation of DNA libraries to be used on massively parallel short-read DNA sequencing platforms. Although instruments for physical shearing, such as the Covaris S2 focused-ultrasonicator system, and products for enzymatic shearing, such as the Nextera technology and NEBNext dsDNA Fragmentase kit, are commercia...

The myocardium is a complex three-dimensional structure consisting of myocytes interconnected by a dense collagen weave that courses in different directions. Regional ischemia can be expected to produce complex changes in ventricular deformation. In the present study, we examined the effects of ischemia on two- and three-dimensional finite strains during acute transmural myocardial ischemia in ...
