Triterpene glycosides are characteristic secondary metabolites of sea cucumbers (Holothurioidea, Echinodermata). They have hemolytic, cytotoxic, antifungal, and other biological activities caused by membranotropic action. These natural products suppress the proliferation of various human tumor cell lines in vitro and, more importantly, intraperitoneal administration in rodents of solutions of s...
Black Sea cucumbers (Holothuria atra) are a potential source of active metabolites such as flavonoids widely used for nutraceutical, pharmaceutical, and cosmeceutical products. The type nanoparticle that is often in cosmetics skin products Solid Lipid Nanoparticles (SLN). In this study, the SLN black sea cucumber extract will be prepared form peel-off gel mask an antioxidant. were extracted usi...
The aim of this randomised, parallel, double-blind study, in which 28 adult patients diagnosed with chronic gingivitis or early stages of chronic periodontitis were recruited, was to evaluate the efficacy of 'Gamadent' toothpaste compared to a placebo toothpaste. 'Gamadent' toothpaste has all the basic constituents of a toothpaste with the addition of a sea cucumber extract (SCE) of the species...
Draft Genome Sequences of Vibrio sp. Strains Isolated from Tetrodotoxin-Bearing Scavenging Gastropod
Vibrio sp. strains JCM 18905 and JCM 19053 were isolated from a tetrodotoxin (TTX)-bearing scavenging gastropod, and Vibrio sp. strain JCM 18904 was isolated from a sea cucumber. All these are closely related to Vibrio alginolyticus. Their comparative genome information is useful for studies of TTX production in bacteria.
Compounds obtained from marine organisms have been isolated due to their anti-bacterial and antifungal activities. In this study, the antifungal activity of aqueous-methanol, methanol, chloroform and n-hexane extracts of body wall, guts and white strings of sea cucumber (Holothuria leucospilota) collected from Chabahar Bay in 100 to 2000 μg/ml concentrations is discussed. The antifunga...
Colochirus robustus, a species of sea cucumber, has long been used in East and Southeast Asia as nutritious food as well as for certain medicinal purpose. Studies have shown a number of biological functions associated with consumption of sea cucumber, many of which are attributed to its major component, sea cucumber peptides (SCP). However, how SCP impacts immune system, which is critical for h...
Sea cucumber triterpene glycosides are a class of secondary metabolites that possess distinctive chemical structures and exhibit variety biological pharmacological activities. The application MS-based approaches for the study allows rapid evaluation structural diversity in complex mixtures. However, identification detected can be challenging. objective this is to establish first spectral librar...
The goal of this work was to test the in vitro responses of cucumber microshoots to salt stress as affected by increased phosphorus (P) in the medium. Salt stress was induced by incorporating different levels (0.0, 25, 50, 75 and 100 mM) of NaCl to the medium. Increased P in the medium was efficient to ameliorate the adverse effects of salinity. Shoot and root growth of cucumber microshoots wer...
Stichopus chloronotus, a marine sea cucumber rich in n-3 PUFAs and phenolic compounds, is deep black–green with yellow/ red papillae tips, which has important economic ecological value. In this project, process was established to simultaneous extract prepare four different active substances (including polysaccharide, polypeptide, saponin lipid) from chloronotus. The yields purity were also impr...
