Introduction: Preparedness for the prevention of travel-related infectious diseases among Malaysian international travelers has yet to be explored. With no such data, health programs to empower travelers on behavioral responses towards travel-related illnesses will be ineffective. The current study aimed to develop and validate a new scoring-based instrument measuring Malaysian...

Travel time studies are widely used to document congestion and quantify the impact of highway improvements after construction has been finished. For safety reasons, these studies are typically performed with two people in the automobile. The driver is responsible for “floating” with the traffic stream. The passenger is responsible for recording the time the vehicle passes predetermined landmark...

The World Tourism Organization has estimated that over 595 million people traveled internationally in 1997. Although tourism overall has been growing at an annual rate of 4%, nature travel, also known as ecotourism, is increasing at an estimated annual rate of 10-30%. The Ecotourism Society (TES) of North Bennington, Vermont, was founded in 1990 as a tool for both consumers and ecotourism profe...

Reaction-diffusion processes in two-dimensional percolating structures are investigated. Two different problems are addressed: reaction spreading on a percolating cluster and front propagation through a percolating channel. For reaction spreading, numerical data and analytical estimates show a power-law behavior of the reaction product as M(t)~t(d(l)), where d(l) is the connectivity dimension. ...

A nonlinear streamwise traveling-wave solution is obtained by homotopy for square duct flow. For a particular symmetry of the perturbations, this wave comes into existence at about Re(b)=600 (based on half-duct width and bulk speed) for a streamwise wave number alpha=0.85 . The resulting four-vortex mean flow resembles the transitional flow structures observed in previous simulations.

BACKGROUND The increased number of trips and competitions scheduled in the international agonistic calendars meets commercial demands while acting as a source of stress for the athletes. A model, developed in biathlons to monitor the so-called competition load, revealed an upward trend over time. The aim of this study was to evaluate, in a 21-year period, the effects of the International Biathl...
