Given a constant weight linear code, we investigate its weight hierarchy and the Stanley-Reisner resolution of its associated matroid regarded as a simplicial complex. We also exhibit conditions on the higher weights sufficient to conclude that the code is of constant weight.
Recently, Nevo introduced the notion of strongly edge decomposable spheres. In this paper, we characterize the algebraic shifted complex of those spheres. Algebraically, this result yields the characterization of the generic initial ideal of the Stanley–Reisner ideal of Gorenstein* complexes having the strong Lefschetz property in characteristic 0.
We study diagrams associated with a finite simplicial complex K, in various algebraic and topological categories. We relate their colimits to familiar structures in algebra, combinatorics, geometry and topology. These include: right-angled Artin and Coxeter groups (and their complex analogues, which we call circulation groups); Stanley-Reisner algebras and coalgebras; Davis and Januszkiewicz’s ...
A technique of minimal free resolutions of Stanley–Reisner rings enables us to show the following two results: (1) The 1-skeleton of a simplicial (d − 1)-sphere is d-connected, which was first proved by Barnette; (2) The comparability graph of a non-planar distributive lattice of rank d − 1 is d-connected.
In [22], Meyer and Reisner proved the Mahler conjecture for rovelution bodies. In this paper, using a new method, we prove that among origin-symmetric bodies of revolution in R 3 , cylinders have the minimal Mahler volume. Further, we prove that among parallel sections homothety bodies in R3 , 3-cubes have the minimal Mahler volume. Mathematics subject classification (2010): 52A10, 52A40.
