Carboxylate-terminated and dopamine-conjugated CdSe-ZnS quantum dots (QDs) are imaged in living fibroblasts using fluorescence lifetime imaging microscopy. Changes in lifetime are observed as the QDs are processed in the cells, and are consistent with lifetime measurements in bulk solution using buffers compositions that correspond to different cellular regions.
This paper describes the synthesis and application of PEGylated liposome-coated quantum dots (QDs)/mesoporous silica core-shell nanoparticles (NPs) for molecular imaging. This system increases biocompatibility and stability of QDs, thus improving the imaging effects in labeling of cancer cells.
A new "on-the-fly" chemical optical detection strategy based on the incorporation of fluorescence CdTe quantum dots (QDs) on the surface of self-propelled tubular micromotors is presented. The motion-accelerated binding of trace Hg to the QDs selectively quenches the fluorescence emission and leads to an effective discrimination between different mercury species and other co-existing ions.
Protein binding to lipid-coated nanoparticles has been pursued quantitatively by using fluorescence correlation spectroscopy. The binding of three important plasma proteins to lipid-enwrapped quantum dots (QDs) shows very low affinity, with an apparent dissociation coefficient in the range of several hundred micromolar. Thus, the tendency to adsorb is orders of magnitude weaker than for QDs coa...
We applied force spectroscopy based on atomic force microscope (AFM) to demonstrate the possibility of measuring the interaction force between single quantum-dots (QDs) and living cells at single particle level under native conditions. In the force-distance cycle, we recorded the events of cellular uptake of single QDs and single QD detachment from the cell.
Silicon quantum dots obtained by the reaction of magnesium silicide with ethylenediamine dihydrochloride were utilized to investigate the sensing mechanism and sensitivity for DMNB detection applications. Sensing DMNB provided us with evidence that Si QDs with a higher lying conduction band have better sensitivity compared to CdSe QDs.
Size-controlled synthesis of luminescent quantum dots of MoS2 (≤2 layers) with narrow size distribution, ranging from 2.5 to 6 nm, from their bulk material using a unique electrochemical etching of bulk MoS2 is demonstrated. Excitation-dependent photoluminescence emission is observed in the MoS2 QDs. "As-synthesized" MoS2 QDs also exhibit excellent electrocatalytic activity towards hydrogen evo...
Novel highly luminescent Cu(+) doped CdS quantum dots (QDs) were directly synthesized in aqueous phase through a facile single-step noninjection method. Due to their bright red fluorescence, ultrasmall size, and good biocompatibility, as-prepared CdS:Cu(+) QDs have potential as probes in bio-imaging.
Based on 15-crown-5 functionalized CdSe/ZnS quantum dots (QDs), we report a novel fluorogenic sensor to probe K+ ions in H2O; recognition of K+ can be achieved via the Förster type of energy transfer between two different color QDs, so that [K+] of the order of 10(-6) M can be promptly detected.
The fluorescence intermittency of multilayered quantum dots QDs is experimentally investigated. The measured blinking statistical probabilities for QDs of different shell structures and at different excitation powers are compared with the diffusion controlled electron transfer model. The results show that the power law statistics for the “on” and “off” events depend strongly on the structure an...
