We calculate the three loop gauge β-function for an abelian N = 1 supersymmetric gauge theory, using DRED. We construct a coupling constant redefinition that relates the result to the corresponding term in the NSVZ β-function, and by generalising this redefinition to the non-abelian case we derive the DRED three loop gauge β-function for the non-abelian case.

The modular symmetries of string loop threshold corrections for gauge coupling constants are studied in the presence of discrete Wilson lines for all examples of abelian orbifolds, where the point group is realised by the action of Coxeter elements or generalised Coxeter elements on the root lattices of the Lie groups.

We derive a set of equations describing the real time dynamics of modes with spatial momentum of order g 2 T in a high temperature gauge theory, where g is the coupling constant and T is the temperature. This dynamics is stochastic in nature. Important implications for baryon number violation at high temperature and for the physics at the electroweak phase transition, are discussed.

The ”measurability” of the non-minimal coupling is discussed in the context of the effective field theory of gravity.
