This paper proposes a broadband wireless transceiver which can be reconfigured to any type of cyclic-prefix (CP) -based communication systems, including orthogonal frequency-division multiplexing (OFDM), single-carrier cyclic-prefix (SCCP) system, multicarrier (MC) code-division multiple access (MC-CDMA), MC direct-sequence CDMA (MC-DS-CDMA), CP-based CDMA (CP-CDMA), and CP-based direct-sequenc...

The classical approach to linking lattice dynamics properties to continuum equations of motion, the “method of long waves,” is extended to include higher order terms. The additional terms account for non-local and non-linear effects. In the first part of the article, the derivation is made within the harmonic approximation for the perfect lattice response. Higher order terms are included in the...

This research presents a uniform approximation to the formulas of Benade and Keefe for the propagation constant of a cylindrical tube, valid for all tube radii and frequencies in the audio range. Based on this approximation, a simple expression is presented for a filter which closely matches the thermoviscous loss filter of a tube of specified length and radius at a given sampling rate. The for...

We consider warped compactifications that solve the 10 dimensional supergravity equations of motion at a point, stabilize the position of a D3-brane world, and admit a warp factor that violates Lorentz invariance along the brane. This gives a string embedding of “asymmetrically warped” models which we use to calculate stringy (α′) corrections to standard model dispersion relations, paying atten...

This paper explores the relationship between interdisciplinary studies and research and researchers’ positionalities, both within and beyond geography. The profound degree to which researchers’ assumptions, expectations and attitudes (which in turn are aVected by their personal backgrounds, training, location, etc.) inXuences the very notion of interdisciplinarity, and what it involves and cons...

A generalisation to electrodynamics and Yang-Mills theory is presented that permits computation of the speed of light. The model presented herewithin indicates that the speed of light is not a universal constant. This may be relevant to the current debate in astronomy over large values of the Hubble constant obtained by the latest generation of ground and space-based telescopes. An experiment i...

This report describes an approach for generation of rotation through quantum operators. The approach of the proposed method transforms the transitions between quantum gates in rotary operations. Operations with qubits are very similar to the rotation, but with an added phase coefficient. This fact is used to create a process for rotation between unitary matrices.

In this paper we consider how information may be obtained from images. To search large image collections we need to search on secondary parameters. We may look for images containing certain types of objects, for images where the objects are of a certain size or shape, or for images having certain features. Since we now have techniques to rapidly acquire and store many images, we need techniques...
