Fusel oil is a by-product of distilleries, its main component is i-amyl alcohol, which can form ester compounds. Esterification of oleic acid and i-amyl alcohol by Candida antarctica lipase B (Novozym 435 preparation) in n-heptane solvent was studied in this work. Ping-pong bi-bi mechanism (inhibition phenomena taken into account) was applied as a complex kinetic model. The parameters of the mo...

TEG is a new methodology for point-to-point messaging developed as a part of the Open MPI project. Initial performance measurements are presented, showing comparable ping-pong latencies in a single NIC configuration, but with bandwidths up to 30% higher than that achieved by other leading MPI implementations. Homogeneous dual-NIC configurations further improved performance, but the heterogeneou...

We briefly review the security of the ping-pong protocol in light of several attack scenarios suggested by various authors since the proposal of the protocol. We refute one recent attack on an ideal quantum channel, and show that a recent claim of falseness of our original security proof is erroneous.

Ping-pong protocols with recursive definitions of agents, but without any active intruder, are a Turing powerful model. We show that under the environment sensitive semantics (i.e. by adding an active intruder capable of storing all exchanged messages including full analysis and synthesis of messages) some verification problems become decidable. In particular we give an algorithm to decide cont...

Pentaerythritol tetranitrate reductase, which reductively liberates nitrite from nitrate esters, is related to old yellow enzyme. Pentaerythritol tetranitrate reductase follows a ping-pong mechanism with competitive substrate inhibition by NADPH, is strongly inhibited by steroids, and is capable of reducing the unsaturated bond of 2-cyclohexen-1-one.

In this paper, we propose an extension of classical finite state machine as it called a timer embedded finite state machine (TEFSM) with its formal modeling methods. In the proposed state-based approach, a discrete event system is modeled as a coupled TEFSM. Also presented is a systematic procedure and architecture of developing a simulation executor with a synchronization manager for the coupl...

This paper presents a handover optimization scheme in LTE for a variety of velocities. This scheme adjusts the time-to-trigger parameter based on received signal strength. The proposed algorithm demonstrates a more enhanced performance during a data link failure and ping-pong effect than existing algorithms focusing on a user’s position.

TEG is a new component-based methodology for point-to-point messaging. Developed as part of the Open MPI project, TEG provides a configurable fault-tolerant capability for high-performance messaging that utilizes multi-network interfaces where available. Initial performance comparisons with other MPI implementations show comparable ping-pong latencies, but with bandwidths up

The analysis of experimental data collected by X-band SAR of COSMO-SkyMed (CSK®) and TerraSAR-X (TSX) images on the same surface types has shown significant differences in the signal level of the two sensors. In order to investigate the possibility of combining data from the two instruments, a study was carried out by comparing images collected with similar orbital and sensor parameters (e.g., ...
