A semantic model for statecharts is used as the basis of a mechanization in Isabelle. Similarly, we build an Isabelle embedding of class diagrams using ideas from a reference semantics for Object-Z, without using Object-Z itself, rather expressing the semantics directly in Is-abelle's Higher Order Logic. The combination of these two mechanized semantical models is intended as a basis for reason...

ions, nondeterminism by backtracking, encapsulated search, and metaprogramming, without requiring changes to either the Java host language or the code of the data object models to be queried. In past papers, we have demonstrated how to use Paisley to sanitize legacy query interfaces [5], how to combine nondeterminism and search-plan metaprogramming to solve logical puzzles [7], and how to expre...

A speciication describes the functions which a system provides to its users without explanation of how those functions are implemented. A speciication of an interactive system's user-interface is an abstract description of the interactive system itself. Such a speciica-tion indicates which functional aspects of the system are perceivable by the user and the logical organisation of information p...

This paper describes a method for specification-based class testing that incorporates test case generation, execution, and evaluation based on formal specifications. This work builds on previous achievements in the areas of specification-based testing and class testing by integrating the two within a single framework. The initial step of the method is to generate test templates for individual o...

Formal methods for software development are becoming increasingly necessary as softwarebecomes an important part of everyday life. To handle the complexities inherent in large-scale software systems these methods need to be combined with a sound developmentmethodology which supports modularity and reusability. Object orientation, based on theconcept that systems are composed...

CSP-OZ [C. Fischer, CSP-OZ: A combination of Object-Z and CSP, in: H. Bowman, J. Derrick (Eds.), Formal Methods for Open Object-Based Distributed Systems, FMOODS’97, vol. 2, Chapman & Hall, 1997, pp. 423–438] is a combination of Communicating Sequential Processes (CSP) and Object-Z (OZ). It enables the specification of systems having both a state-based and a behaviouroriented view using the obj...

In this paper, we introduce the class UTq,s([α1] ;α, β) of analytic functions in the open unit disc U = {z ∈ C : |z| < 1} defined by Dziok-Srivastava operator. The object of the present paper is to determine coefficient estimates and some results concerning the partial sums for functions f(z) belonging to this class.

The aspect-oriented software development (AOSD) paradigm permits modularizing crosscutting concerns of base modules, a non-usual task in other software development paradigms. Since AOSD was born in the programming stage as an extension of an object-oriented (OO) programming language, and AOSD considers, in addition to base modules, new modules named aspects, then a complete AOSD process require...

This article investigates the issue of structuring Z specifications. It uses examples from a large specification (the production cell) to examine both conventions for using Z and notational extensions, including Object-Z. Because of the importance of good structure within a specification, specifiers need to be aware of a range of structuring techniques and understand where each is applicable.

We present the results of a narrow-band survey of QSO fields at redshifts that place the [OIII](5007Å) emission line in the ∆λ λ ∼ 1% 2.16 μm filter. We have observed 3 square arcminutes and detected one emission line candidate object in the field around PC 1109+4642. We discuss the possibilities that this object is a star-forming galaxy at the QSO redshift, zem = 3.313 or a Seyfert galaxy. In ...
