Droplet size distributions in the cold spray of a fuel are important in observed combustion behavior. Specification of droplet size and velocity distributions in the immediate downstream of injectors is also essential as boundary conditions for advanced computational fluid dynamics (CFD) and two-phase spray transport calculations. This paper describes the development of a new model to be incorp...

The basic transcritical CO2 systems exhibit low energy efficiency due to their large throttling loss. Replacing the throttle valve with an ejector is an effective measure for recovering some of the energy lost in the expansion process. In this paper, a thermodynamic model of the ejector-expansion transcritical CO2 refrigeration cycle is developed. The effect of the suction nozzle pressure drop ...

This paper proposes a new double-nozzle technique for in-gas-jet laser resonance ionization spectroscopy. We explored the functionality of this through detailed gas dynamic and Monte Carlo atom-trajectory simulations, in which results are presented discussed. The similar computer simulations JetRIS setup (as typical representative conventional nowadays) also direct comparison calculation propos...

To show the effects of the particles and forced disturbances on the instantaneous large-scale vortex structures in a gas-particle round jet, coherent structures in gas-particle turbulent round jets were investigated experimentally by flow visualization. The 45m and 350m diameter glass beads were used as the particles in the experiments. An acoustic speaker was used to introduce velocity perturb...

For the study of transients in gas-liquid flows, the equations of the so-called separated flow model are inadequate, because they possess, in the general case where gas and liquid move at different velocities, complex characteristics. This paper is concerned with the equations of motion for bubbly flow. The equations are discussed with emphasis on the aspects of relative motion and the characte...

The present derivation of split-flux formulas has the following features:(l) it includes several particular formuFlux-vector and flux-difference splittings for the inlas derived elsewhere for ideal gases, (2) it avoids unnecesviscid terms of the compressible flow equations are derived sary assumptions or approximations, (3) it avoids unnecunder the assumption of a general equation of state for ...

The ability to deposit a thin tin oxide film on CMOS chip dies has enabled the manufacture of modern smart gas sensor devices. Spray pyrolysis deposition is used to grow the required thin films, as it is an affordable deposition technique which can be integrated into a standard CMOS processing sequence. A model for spray pyrolysis deposition is developed and implemented within the Level Set fra...

Numerous investigations have been devoted towards understanding the hydrodynamics of gas jets in fluidized beds. However, most of them address the problem from  macroscopic point of view, which does not reveal the true behavior in the jet region at the single particle level. The present work aims to understand the jet behavior from a more fundamental level, i.e. the individual particle leve...

Jet loop reactors are standard multiphase used in chemical, biological and environmental processes. The strong liquid jet provided by a nozzle enforces both internal circulation of gas as well entrainment dispersion the phase. We present one-dimensional compartment model based on momentum balance that describes phase reactor. This considers influence local variations volume fraction circulation...

A quasi one-dimensional analysis of a STOVL aircraft nozzle in hover is performed to estimate the gross thrust coefficient as a function of nozzle pressure and nozzle area ratios. The analysis is supported by subscale, cold flow test results. The nozzle performance was found to be less than desirable in hover due to the overexpansion arising from the geometrical constraints of the existing nozzle.
