This paper identifies some linguistic properties of technical terminology, and uses them to formulate an algorithm for identifying technical terms in running text. The grammatical properties discussed are preferred phrase structures: technical terms consist mostly of noun phrases containing adjectives, nouns, and occasionally prepositions; rarely do terms contain verbs, adverbs, or conjunctions...

Using an explicit resolution of the diagonal for the variety V5, we provide cohomological characterizations of the universal and quotient bundles. A splitting criterion for bundles over V5 is also proved. The presentation of semistable aCM bundles is shown, together with a resolution–theoretic classification of low rank aCM bundles.

In this work we study the topology of holomorphic rank two bundles over complex surfaces. We consider bundles that are constructed by glueing “local” holomorphic bundles and we show that under certain conditions the topology of the bundle does not depend on the glueing. As a consequence we present a simple and new classification of bundles on blown-up surfaces.

In the present paper we study bundles equipped with extra homotopy conditions, in particular so-called n-bundles. It is shown that (under some condition) the classifying space of 1-bundles is the double coset space of some finite dimensional Lie group. We also establish some relation between our bundles and C*-algebras.

We prove that all smooth sphere bundles that admit fiberwise 1/4-pinched metrics are induced bundles of vector bundles, so their structure groups reduce from DIFF(Sn) to O(n + 1). This result implies the existence of many smooth Sn-bundles over Sk that do not support strictly 1/4-pinched positively curved Riemannian metrics on their fibers.
