The complete mol-ecule of the title compound, C(20)H(18)N(6)O(8), is generated by a crystallographic twofold axis. The dihedral angle between the nitrobenzene rings is 43.5 (2)°. The central six-membered ring exhibits a boat conformation. In the crystal structure, weak inter-molecular C-H⋯O inter-actions are observed.

Trace amounts of urea derivatives enhance the rate of nitrobenzene N3-sensitized TiO(2) photoreduction by catalyzing the proton transfer. The usually required addition of transition metal co-catalysts becomes dispensable for this visible light photocatalysis, facilitating its application in organic synthesis.

Hydrogen peroxide (H2O2) functionalized carbon nanotubes exhibited better catalytic performance than their nitric acid oxidized counterparts in the reduction of nitrobenzene. One important reason may be attributed to the notably less negative oxygenated groups on the surface of the former one.

We report herein an original and rapid synthesis of 2,3-diaryl N-tosylaziridines by TDAE strategy starting from ortho- or para-nitro(dichloromethyl)benzene derivatives and N-tosylimines. A mixture of cis/trans isomers was isolated from 1-(dichloromethyl)-4-nitrobenzene, whereas only trans-aziridines were obtained from ortho-nitro derivatives.
