A Ru complex-incorporated Ti-based MOF (Ti-MOF-Ru(tpy)2) has been synthesised by using a bis(4'-(4-carboxyphenyl)-terpyridine)Ru(ii) complex (Ru(tpy)2) as an organic linker. Ti-MOF-Ru(tpy)2 promotes photocatalytic hydrogen production from water containing a sacrificial electron donor under visible-light irradiation up to 620 nm.
Uniform thin films of a metal-organic framework, which is constructed from free-base porphyrin linkers and hexa-zirconium nodes (MOF-525), are solvothermally grown on conducting substrates. Subsequently, solvothermal post metalations are employed to prepare the Zn-MOF-525 and Co-MOF-525 thin films. All the thin films are electroactive in aqueous media.
Given that energy (exciton) migration in natural photosynthesis primarily occurs in highly ordered porphyrin-like pigments (chlorophylls), equally highly ordered porphyrin-based metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) might be expected to exhibit similar behavior, thereby facilitating antenna-like light-harvesting and positioning such materials for use in solar energy conversion schemes. Herein, we rep...
The mammalian ortholog of the Drosophila MOF (males absent on the first) gene product is a histone H4 lysine 16-specific acetyltransferase. Recent studies have shown that depletion of human MOF (hMOF) in human cell lines leads to genomic instability, spontaneous chromosomal aberrations, cell cycle defects, altered nuclear morphology, reduced transcription of certain genes, and defective DNA dam...
The understanding of nanomaterials for targeted cancer therapy is of great importance as physical parameters of nanomaterials have been shown to be strong determinants that can promote cellular responses. However, there have been rare platforms that can vastly tune the core of nanoparticles at a molecular level despite various nanomaterials employed in such studies. Here we show targeted photod...
In this research, we investigated the sorptive behavior of a mixture of 14 volatile and semi-volatile organic compounds (four aromatic hydrocarbons (benzene, toluene, p-xylene, and styrene), six C2-C5 volatile fatty acids (VFAs), two phenols, and two indoles) against three metal-organic frameworks (MOFs), i.e., MOF-5, Eu-MOF, and MOF-199 at 5 to 10 mPa VOC partial pressures (25 °C). The selecte...
Abstract Gallic acid is a natural antioxidant present in many plants such as tea, sumac, gallnut and other plants. This naturally occurring gallic known to exhibit auto-oxidation under certain conditions, generating several reactive oxygen species (ROS) including superoxides, hydroxyls hydrogen peroxide radicals that plays key roles its antimicrobial activity. Here, we demonstrate incorporating...
A combined theoretical and experimental approach demonstrates that nanocluster embedment into the pores of metal-organic frameworks (MOF) may be influenced by the chemical functionalisation of the MOF. Furthermore, this results in the surface functionalisation of the embedded nanoclusters, highlighting the potential of MOF scaffolds for the design and synthesis of novel functional materials.
The aluminum-based metal-organic framework (MOF) made from 2-aminoterephthalate is a photocatalyst for oxygen evolution. This MOF can be modified by incorporating Ni2+ cations into the pores through coordination to the amino groups, and the resulting MOF is an efficient photocatalyst for overall water splitting.
In order to fabricate metal-organic framework (MOF) based devices, it is desirable to precisely position high-quality and mono-sized MOF crystals on supports. In this work, we demonstrate a facile solution procedure for the fabrication of oriented and monodispersed single-crystal MOF pattern. We expect that such capability will expand the scope of applications of MOFs to advanced fields.
