BACKGROUND Despite potential antiinflammatory properties, the use of selective cyclooxygenase-2 inhibitors (coxibs) in patients with cardiovascular diseases has been questioned because of a possibly increased thrombotic risk. Tissue factor (TF), a key protein for initiation of coagulation, has been implicated in the pathogenesis of atherosclerosis and thrombosis. Hence, we examined the effect o...
The asymmetric unit of the title compound, C(23)H(23)ClFN(5)O(2), contains two crystallographically independent mol-ecules. In one mol-ecule, the pyrazole ring makes dihedral angles of 43.93 (7) and 35.82 (7)°, respectively, with the fluoro- and chloro-substituted benzene rings, while the corresponding angles in the other mol-ecule are 52.26 (8) and 36.85 (7)°. The piperazine rings adopt chair ...
Human lens membranes contain the highest cholesterol content of any known biological membrane. Although cholesterol is prone to oxidation, the presence of its oxidation products in human cataract has not been shown before. This study was designed to investigate the presence of cholesterol oxides in human cataractous lenses. Human clear lenses (n = 48) were obtained from Coimbra University Hospi...
In the title compound, C(20)H(21)F(2)NO, the piperidine ring in each of the two independent mol-ecules in the asymmetric unit adopts a normal chair conformation with an equatorial orientation of the 3-fluoro-phenyl groups. The dihedral angles between the two 3-fluoro-phenyl rings are 49.89 (7) and 50.35 (7)° in the two mol-ecules.
In the title mol-ecule, C16H13N5, the plane of the tetra-zole ring forms dihedral angles of 16.37 (7) and 76.59 (7)° with the two phenyl rings. The dihedral angle between the phenyl rings is 68.05 (6)°. The pyrimidine ring is in a flattened boat conformation. In the crystal, mol-ecules are linked by pairs of N-H⋯N hydrogen bonds, forming inversion dimers.
The title compound, C(11)H(14)N(2), crystallized with two independent mol-ecules (A and B) in the asymmetric unit. The two mol-ecules differ only slightly, with the pyrrole rings being inclined to one another at a dihedral angle of 87.67 (8)° in mol-ecule A and 88.09 (7)° in mol-ecule B. In the crystal, there are no classical hydrogen bonds, but the two pyrrole NH groups of one mol-ecule are in...
The aim of this study was to examine the effects of angiotensin II (Ang II) on cellular functions of rat podocytes (pod) in the intact freshly isolated glomerulus and in culture. Membrane voltage (Vm) and ion currents of pod were examined with the patch clamp technique in fast whole cell and whole cell nystatin configuration. Vm of pod was -38+/-1 mV (n = 86). Ang II led to a concentration-depe...
In the title mol-ecule, C(20)H(16)O(4), the two outermost phenyl rings form dihedral angles of 79.80 (7) and 69.35 (7)° with the central benzene ring. In the crystal structure, weak inter-molecular C-H⋯O inter-actions link the mol-ecules into ribbons propagating along [1[Formula: see text]0].
AIM Oxytocin produces concentration-dependent relaxation of isolated isthmus and ampulla of human oviduct precontracted by histamine. The aim of our study was to investigate whether this oxytocin effect was specific and by which receptors it was mediated. METHODS We investigated effects of oxytocin and its antagonists on isolated isthmus and ampulla of the uterine tubes from 20 women who unde...
In the title compound, C(7)H(5)FO(2)·C(7)H(7)NO, a moderate-strength hydrogen bond is formed between the carboxyl group of one mol-ecule and the pyridine N atom of the other. The benzoic acid mol-ecule is observed to be disordered over two positions with the second orientation only 4% occupied. This disorder is also reflected in the presence of diffuse scattering in the diffraction pattern.
