Classical Pitowsky correlation polytopes are reviewed with particular emphasis on the Minkowski-Weyl representation theorem. The inequalities representing the faces of polytopes are Boole’s “conditions of possible experience.” Many of these inequalities have been discussed in the context of Bell’s inequalities. We introduce CddIF, a Mathematica package created as an interface between Mathematic...
ABOUT THIS RESEARCH BRIEF This ASPE Research Brief was written by Brian Goesling and Joanne Lee of Mathematica Policy Research as part of an ongoing systematic review of the teen pregnancy prevention literature. Since 2009, Mathematica and its partner, Child Trends, have conducted the Teen Pregnancy Prevention Evidence Review under contract with HHS. The review aims to identify, assess, and rat...
Mathematica implementations, available by email request, of q-analogues of Gosper's and Zeilberger's algorithm are described. Nontrivial examples are given in order to illustrate the usage of these packages. The algorithms are based on a new approach to q-hypergeometric telescoping in which a new algebraic concept, q-greatest factorial factorization (qGFF), plays a fundamental role.
General Audience This book is intended for the advanced undergraduate and graduate physics student taking core courses in the physics curriculum. We expect this text to be a supplement to the standard course text. The student would use this book to get ideas on how to use Mathematica to solve the problems assigned by the instructor. Since we cover the canonical problems from the core courses, t...
In the present paper which is an extended version of paper [1] we consider a Mathematica-based package for simulation of quantum circuits. It provides a user-friendly graphical interface to specify a quantum circuit, to draw it, and to construct the unitary matrix for quantum computation defined by the circuit. The matrix is computed by means of the linear algebra tools built-in Mathematica. Fo...
We describe the Geometer’s Workbench, a graphical front end for Mathematica running on the Interactive Mural, a large high resolution display. Our system bridges the gap between casual whiteboard interaction and the more formal use of a tool like Mathematica. We anticipate that the experience gained from designing and testing such a tool can be generalized to a large class of technical and scie...
Algebraic approach of differential one-forms provides simple theoretical framework for several typical problems of nonlinear control theory that makes it useful for educational purposes. Additional assistance is provided by Mathematica functions, developed by us and made available by creating a web-based application using web-Mathematica. These symbolic computation tools provide solutions for s...
We present the Mathematica package HypExp which allows to expand hypergeometric functions J FJ−1 around integer parameters to arbitrary order. At this, we apply two methods, the first one being based on an integral representation, the second one on the nested sums approach. The expansion works for both symbolic argument z and unit argument. We also implemented new classes of integrals that appe...

The new generation of symbolic computation systems (SCSs), such as Mathematica or AXIOM provides beyond the mathematical and calculational capabilities a full programming language. The user of such systems can write programs that might call the mathematical commands, which appear as built-in compiled functions. However, user programs written in SCSs strongly supporting term rewriting (e.g. Math...
