Dysembryoplastic neuroepithelial tumor (DNET) is a recently described, morphologically unique, and surgically curable low grade brain which included in the WHO CNS classification as neuronal mixed glial tumor. It usually seen children young adults. This entity first described by Damas-Duport 1998 non-recurring with an excellent prognosis. We present case of 30 year old female experiencing seizu...

Affinity chromatography is a high resolution, high capacity, and one of the most powerful and diverse methods for separating proteins and other biological molecules of interest on the basis of a highly specific, reversible biological interaction between two molecules: an affinity ligand attached to a solid matrix to create a stationary phase, and a target molecule in a mobile phase. Specificall...

BACKGROUND Accurate evaluation of adnexal masses allows correct surgical procedure, avoiding unnecessary surgery. PURPOSE To evaluate the accuracy of magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) in the diagnosis of malignancy of adnexal lesions. MATERIAL AND METHODS We retrospectively reviewed the pelvic MRI scans of 161 patients with 199 surgically confirmed adnexal masses, between November 1998 and J...

The electronic reconstruction at the interface between two insulating oxides can give rise to a highly conductive interface. Here we show how, in analogy to this remarkable interface-induced conductivity, magnetism can be induced at the interface between the otherwise non-magnetic insulating perovskites SrTiO3 and LaAlO3. A large negative magnetoresistance of the interface is found, together wi...

Determining the composition of solid materials is of high interest in areas such as material research or quality assurance. There are several modalities at disposal with which various parameters of the material can be observed, but of those only magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) or computer tomography (CT) offer a non-destructive determination of material distribution in 3D. A novel non-destruct...

The synthesis of polypeptides on solid phase via mediation by isonitriles is described. The acyl donor is a thioacid, which presumably reacts with the isonitrile to generate a thio-formimidate carboxylate mixed anhydride intermediate. Applications of this chemistry to reiterative solid-phase peptide synthesis as well as solid-phase fragment coupling are described.

The effect of a single dose of (+/-)-fenfluramine hydrochloride (40 mg) on gastric emptying of a mixed solid and liquid meal was assessed with a dual isotope scintigraphic technique in eight obese patients. Fenfluramine significantly delayed gastric emptying of solid food (approximately a 15% reduction in the solid linear emptying rate), but had no effect on gastric emptying of liquid.

We discuss high pressure resistivity results on mixed valent cerium and europium systems in which magnetic order plays an important role. In the CeMn2Si2-based systems the magnetic order is due to the manganese sublattice, and the cerium mixed valentfheavy fermion effects persist at least in the ~tife~om~etic~ly ordered phase of these systems. In the EuO system, the europium ferromagnetic order...

Industry continues to reap the benefits of solid state magnetic field sensing. Every day new applications are found for solid state magnetic field sensors due to their small size, low power. And relatively low cost. The new frontier for these solid state sensors is very low magnetic fields; the kinds encountered when looking for geophysical anomalies, either natural or man-made, various physiol...
