The development of multimodal nanoparticle platforms is desirable for cancer nanotechnology applications. Creating single nanoplatforms with both plasmonic and photoluminescent optical properties has remained a challenge, because combining discrete entities each having one of these unique properties typically results in the attenuation of one of the desirable properties. Here, we overcome chall...
Apart from its numerous biological activities like antidiabetic, anti-inflammatory, antimicrobial, pyrazine moiety plays an important role in luminescent materials. Its role in luminescent materials is due to its highly electron deficient nature specially when it is in the centre along the mainstay of extended π-conjugated systems. Similarly, new liquid crystalline compounds are being made cons...
New supramolecular luminescent host systems based on 2-cyano-3(4-(diphenylamino)phenyl) acrylic acid (CDPA), a triphenylamine based luminescent acid, and amines (propylamine (1), dimethylaminopyridine, DMAP (2) and (1S,2R)-2-amino-1,2-diphenylethanol (3)) were prepared using a supramolecular approach. For each, the inclusion of amines in the CDPA matrix led to blue shifts in the solid state lum...
Some ruthenium(III) complexes with aryl-azo 2,4-pentanedione as co-ligands (L(1)H - L(3)H(2)) have been synthesized and characterized spectroscopically IR, (1)H NMR, UV/Vis, ESR, conductimetric) along with elemental analysis and FAB-mass data. Their luminescent and redox properties have been studied. The antibacterial, anti-HIV and antitmnour activities have also been reported.
Strongly luminescent silver nanoclusters with tunable emission are directly synthesized in organic polar and apolar solvents. We show that an amphiphilic polystyrene-block-poly(methacrylic acid) block copolymer can be universally used as their support medium. A remarkable similarity in spectroscopic properties is observed between these clusters and charge-transfer organic dyes.
The preparation of rhenium based octahedral clusters containing N-heterocyclic carbenes is described. These represent the first examples of [M6(μ3-Q)8](n+) or [M6(μ3-X)8](n+) clusters to contain a carbene ligand of any type (NHC, Fischer or Schrock). Surprisingly, the NHC ligands attenuate their luminescent properties.
Cyanostilbene modified with dimethylaniline (CMD) could self-assemble into vesicles and fibrous morphologies depending on the solvophobic properties. Furthermore, morphology of well-defined nanostructures could be changed with enhanced emission triggered by the photo-isomerization of cyanostilbene. The present system has potential for building luminescent color conversion materials.
A method of introducing intrinsically photo luminescent properties to biodegradable polymer is introduced, exemplified by the synthesis of intrinsically photoluminescent polylactones that enable non-invasive monitoring and tracking of material degradation in vivo in realtime, as well as the formation of theranostic nanoparticles for cancer imaging and drug delivery.
The solubility of luminescent quantum dots in solvents from hexane to water can be finely tuned by the choice of the countercations associated with carboxylate residues present on the nanocrystal surface. The resulting nanocrystals exhibit long term colloidal and chemical stability and maintain their photophysical properties.
