conclusions the brachial plexus block can be performed at different levels in the same patient to achieve desired results, while employing sound anatomical knowledge and adhering to the maximum safe dose limit of the local anesthetic. case presentation we present the case of a 68-year-old gentleman who had brachial plexus block at supraclavicular and interscalene levels as the sole anesthetic f...
OBJECTIVE To investigate the role of lumbosacral radiculography using 3-dimentional (3D) magnetic resonance (MR) rendering for diagnostic information of symptomatic extraforaminal stenosis in lumbosacral transitional vertebra. MATERIALS AND METHODS The study population consisted of 18 patients with symptomatic (n = 10) and asymptomatic extraforaminal stenosis (n = 8) in lumbosacral transition...
CASE SUMMARY Lumbosacral agenesis is a rare congenital condition reported in children. We report a 17-week-old female domestic shorthair cat with lumbosacral agenesis on whole-body radiographs. The cat was euthanized shortly thereafter presentation. A necropsy was not permitted. RELEVANCE AND NOVEL INFORMATION This is the first reported feline case of lumbosacral agenesis.
Lumbosacral perineural cysts are formed by the arachnoid membrane of the nerve root at the lumbosacral level. Most of these cysts are asymptomatic and are found incidentally during computed tomography (CT) or magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) for other causes of chronic lower back pain. This type of cyst requires a differential diagnosis to distinguish it from other causes of radiating pain and ...
Background and Aim: Intracranial physiologic calcification is not accompanied by any evidence of disease and has no demonstrable pathological cause. It is often due to calcium deposition in the blood vessels of different structures of the brain. Computed tomography (CT) is the most sensitive means of detection of for this calcification. The aim of this study was the assessment of the intracrani...
Objective. The purpose of this study is to describe the range and frequency of cutaneous lumbosacral and coccygeal findings encountered during the newborn examination in a population of apparently healthy babies, to determine if the prevalence of these findings is associated with race/ethnicity, and to report the frequency of co-occurrence of low-risk cutaneous findings. Methods. Lumbosacral ph...
cauda equina syndrome (ces) although uncommon, is a very serious condition, which should be diagnosed as soon as possible. urinary dysfunction following a lumbosacral trauma is a key for the physician to consider ces as the most probable diagnosis. up to 62% of ces patients report a recent episode of trauma. we herein report a young man with ces due to sacral fracture with an interesting imaging.
Abstract Background: Choroid plexus (CP) is a branched structure made up of a single layer of epithelial cells and blood capillaries, forming the blood-CSF-barrier. The CSF (cerebrospinal fluid) is mainly produced from the CP. Aquaporin1 (AQP1), water channels that are highly expressed on the apical side of the membrane in choroid plexus, have a major role in mediating water transport across th...
BACKGROUND Degenerative lumbosacral stenosis is a common problem in large breed dogs. For severe degenerative lumbosacral stenosis, conservative treatment is often not effective and surgical intervention remains as the last treatment option. The objective of this retrospective study was to assess the middle to long term outcome of treatment of severe degenerative lumbosacral stenosis with pedic...
