A pervasive criticism of hypertext systems is that users tend to lose their way. Although much work has been done to address this "lost in hyperspace" problem, it still remains unresolved, even accepted as an inevtaible feature. But using the "lost in hyperspace" problem as an example of usability problems, we argue usabilityproblems are not user problems. Once viewed like this, more appropriat...

Assuming the observed pulsar velocities to originate during asymmetric collapse of stellar cores, we compute the amplitude of gravitational waves emitted during type II and Ib supernova explosions and their detection rate from within a distance of 30 Mpc. At the rms-level of advanced laser interferometers h ≈ 10−22 at frequencies 300− 1000 Hz the expected rate is about 1 per year.

We calculate the cross section of the inverse beta decay process, νe + n → p + e, in a magnetic field which is much smaller than m2p/e. Using exact solutions of the Dirac equation in a constant magnetic field, we find that the cross section depends on the direction of the incident neutrino even when the initial neutron is assumed to be at rest. We discuss the implication of this result for puls...

Being disorientated or lost is one of the fundamental dif®culties which users experience when trying to navigate within hypertext systems. In this paper, two new metrics of lostness are described and applied. The new metrics focus on the effects of link-type and the accuracy of user's mental models of system structure. In a series of studies, the new metrics were compared with the only other pu...

The elements of space design and coordination are the most important attraction that give urban a kind excitement distinction. Due to neglect spaces, designing coordinating lost their importance in these spaces. Hence, research problem is lack clear conception role spaces improve functional environmental performance enrich aesthetic aspects which led unwillingness city's residents exploit There...

Does the presence of green spaces in urban environments reduce probability crime? This paper applies difference-in-differences approach to quantify impact on crime occurrence using data from three largest metropolitan areas Indonesia. Specifically, study employs wards level Village Potential Census (PODES) 2014 and 2018 collected by Indonesia Statistics. Estimation results indicate a negative s...

Residual spaces are defined as a category of open that exist in our urban context but rarely considered by designers. They have other terminologies, such leftovers, loose spaces, lost neglected and land. However, residual can be used to serve community problem-solving children's needs outdoor spaces. Using landscape design tool, an consider activities their different needs. In this sense, paper...

This paper presents novel dissimilarity space specially designed for interactive multimedia retrieval. By providing queries made of positive and negative examples, the goal consists in learning the positive class distribution. This classification problem is known to be asymmetric, i.e. the negative class does not cluster in the original feature spaces. We introduce here the idea of Query-based ...
