A simplified version of the specific contact resistance measurement scheme of G. K. Reeves [Solid State Electronics 23, 487 (1980)] has been developed. Its applicability to semiconducting diamond is demonstrated using four sample types: epitaxial films doped to mid 1019 acceptors/cm3 on (100) and (110) type IIa substrates; type IIb diamonds 0.25 mm thick, and type IIb diamonds thinned to 0.035-...

In this communication we report the unexpected effect of ruthenium doping in sodium lightly doped manganites. This effect seems to be in contrast with the usual model applied to describe the effect of this magnetic ion into the manganite structure. We propose a possible compensation mechanism which seems also able to describe other peculiar features encountered in these materials.

One of the main problems of field effect diode (FED) is the increasing of its turn-off current as the channel length decreases. Thus, in this paper, a new structure is presented which decreases the injection of extra carriers to the channel and also increases the control of the gate over the channel by reducing the portion of channel shared with the source and drain regions and without the need...

We examine phases of the Shraiman-Siggia model of lightly-doped, square lattice quantum antiferromagnets in a self-consistent, two-loop, interacting magnon analysis. We find magnetically-ordered and quantum-disordered phases both with and without incommensurate spin correlations. The quantum disordered phases have a pseudo-gap in the spin excitation spectrum. The quantum transition between the ...

We studied the electrical transport properties of Au-seeded germanium nanowires with radii ranging from 11 to 80 nm at ambient conditions. We found a non-trivial dependence of the electrical conductivity, mobility and carrier density on the radius size. In particular, two regimes were identified for large (lightly doped) and small (stronger doped) nanowires in which the charge-carrier drift is ...

Resistivity and magnetization measurements are used for studying the transverse sliding of AF domain boundaries in lightly doped La2−xSrxCuO4. We discuss that it is the freezing of the transverse boundary motion that is responsible for the appearance of “spin-glass” features at low temperatures.

The optimization of biosensing efficiency on a diamond platform depends on the successful coupling of biomolecules on the surface, and also on effective signal transduction in the biorecognition events. In terms of biofunctionalization of diamond surfaces, surface electrochemical studies of diamond modified with undecylenic acid (UA), with and without headgroup protection, were performed. The d...

We use transport and neutron-scattering measurements to show that a magnetic-field-induced transition from noncollinear to collinear spin arrangement in adjacent CuO2 planes of lightly electron-doped Pr(1.3-x)La(0.7)CexCuO4 (x=0.01) crystals affects significantly both the in-plane and out-of-plane resistivity. In the high-field collinear state, the magnetoresistance (MR) does not saturate but e...

Transmission of intense femtosecond 825 nm pulses progressively produces a waveguide at the entrance of a heavily Ge-doped silicate fiber. The waveguide behaves as a multimillimeter long-fiber bandpass filter that scatters away light with wavelengths shorter or longer than 850 nm. This phenomenon has been correlated with the ~800 nm photosensitivity producing type I-IR fiber Bragg gratings in s...

A 100-V Taper-Shielded trench Gate (TSG) power metal-oxide-semiconductor field-effect transistor (MOSFET) with superior figure-of-merit (FOM) is proposed and investigated in this paper. The gate of the TSG-MOSFET has a tapered shape to reduce gate-to-drain overlap capacitance (CGD) charge (QG). vertical drift region doping profile enhanced two ways. First use multi-step epitaxial growth produce...
