The effects of color on the reading recognition and comprehension of 3 students with learning disabilities and attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder were assessed in a single-subject design. Color did not enhance sight-word learning; for longer reading comprehension tasks, color had an immediate effect across and within sessions.

Background & Aim: Impressive research demonstrates the importance of essential fatty acids for many physiological and behavioral mechanisms in both humans and animals. Experimental research showed that deficit in learning and memory is induced after kindling. The objective of this study was to investigate whether dietary cis and trans fatty acids, pre and during pentylenetetraxol(PTZ) kindl...

Previously, we measured perceptuo-motor learning rates across the lifespan and found a sudden drop in learning rates between ages 50 and 60, called the "50s cliff." The task was a unimanual visual rhythmic coordination task in which participants used a joystick to oscillate one dot in a display in coordination with another dot oscillated by a computer. Participants learned to produce a coordina...

In this issue of Neuron, Wang et al. (2011) show that mice with dopamine neuron-specific NMDAR1 deletion have attenuated phasic dopamine neuron firing and a deficit in habit learning. These findings indicate that brain regions sensitive to phasic dopamine signals may underlie habit learning.

This paper considers the Ricardian Equivalence proposition when expectations are not rational and are instead formed using adaptive learning rules. We show that Ricardian Equivalence continues to hold provided suitable additional conditions on learning dynamics are satisfied. However, new cases of failure can also emerge under learning. In particular, for Ricardian Equivalence to obtain, agents...
