We enrich concept-forming operators in L-rough Concept Analysis with linguistic hedges which model semantics of logical connectives ‘very’ and ‘slightly’. Using hedges as parameters for the concept-forming operators we are allowed to modify our uncertainty when forming concepts. As a consequence, by selection of these hedges we can control the size of concept lattice.

By the development of Semantic Web, increasing demands for vague and distributed information representation have triggered a mass of theoretical and applied researches of fuzzy and distributed ontologies, whose main logical infrastructures are fuzzy and distributed description logics. However, current solutions are proposed respectively on one of these two aspects. By integrating E -connection ...

Type-logical semantics studies linguistic meaning with the help of the theory of types. The latter originated with Russell as an answer to the paradoxes, but has the additional virtue that it is very close to ordinary language. In fact, type theory is so much more similar to language than predicate logic is, that adopting it as a vehicle of representation can overcome the mismatches between gra...

Keywords: mathematical fuzzy logic, basic fuzzy logic, monoidal t-norm logic, hoop logic, non-commutative fuzzy logic. This paper is a companion to my [12]. The latter is a rather technical paper developing a generalized (mathematical) fuzzy logic. Main definitions and results of [12] are reproduced here without any proofs; but this is preceded by a survey on the basic proposi-tional fuzzy logi...

Montague’s framework for semantic interpretation has always been less well adapted to the interpretation of words than of syntactic constructions. In the late 1970s, David Dowty addressed this problem, concentrating on the interpretation of tense, aspect, inchoatives, and causatives in an extension of Montague’s Intensional Logic. In this paper I will try to revive this project, conceiving it a...

Fuzzy set theory has been extensively applied to extend various database models(conceptual and logical) and resulted in numerous contributions, mainly with respect to the popular relational model or to some related form of it. So this paper reviews fuzzy logical database models, in which fuzzy relational databases are discussed.

Classical logical optimization techniques rely on a logical semantics of the query language. The adaptation of these techniques to XQuery is precluded by its definition as a functional language with operational semantics. We introduce Nested XML Tableaux which enable a logical foundation for XQuery semantics and provide the logical plan optimization framework of our XQuery processor. As a proof...

The paper is a short overview of the generalization of Groenendijk-Stokhof’s system of erotetic logic(also known as the partition semantics of questions) to fuzzy questions. Fuzzy intensional semantics, necessary for Groenendijk-Stokhof’s system, is developed within Henkin-style second-order fuzzy logic, which is introduced first. Our attention is restricted to fuzzy yes-no questions.

We present a semantics (using Kripke lambda models) for a logical framework (minimal implicational predicate logic with quantiication over all higher types). We apply the semantics to obtain straightforward adequacy proofs for encodings of logics in the framework.
