Presented here is the first completely assembled genome sequence of Kocuria palustris, an actinobacterial species with broad ecological distribution. The single, circular chromosome of K. palustris MU14/1 comprises 2,854,447 bp, has a G+C content of 70.5%, and contains a deduced gene set of 2,521 coding sequences.

BACKGROUND The Acute Catheterization and Urgent Intervention Triage Strategy (ACUITY) trial demonstrated that bivalirudin monotherapy significantly reduces major bleeding compared with heparin (unfractionated or enoxaparin) or bivalirudin plus a glycoprotein IIb/IIIa inhibitor in acute coronary syndromes. Whether vascular closure devices (VCD) impact these results is unknown. Therefore, this st...

BACKGROUND It is known that there is significant morbidity associated with urinary tract infection and with renal dysfunction in sickle cell disease (SCD). However, it is not known if there are potential adverse outcomes associated with asymptomatic bacteriuria (ASB) infections in sickle cell disease if left untreated. This study was undertaken to determine the prevalence of ASB, in a cohort of...

The purpose of this study was to determine whether there were any differences among salespeople in selling behaviors—namely adaptive selling behavior (ASB) and customer-oriented selling behavior (COSB)—across sex and gender identity groups. Survey data were collected via self-administered questionnaires mailed to a convenience sample of pharmaceutical salespeople working in Adana, Turkey. While...

Asymptomatic bacteriuria (ASB) is diagnosed by the presence of a 10*5 colony-forming units (CFU) in urine without any urinary symptoms. It commonly occurs pregnancy with incidence ranging from 2-10%. poses risk progressing into pyelonephritis pregnancy. Adverse fetal outcomes include preterm labor, neonatal sepsis, intrauterine growth restriction (IUGR) and death. Anatomical physiological chang...

Mucopolysacchariodosis type VI (MPS VI) is the lysosomal storage disorder caused by the deficient activity of arylsulfatase B (ASB; N-acetylgalactosamine 4-sulfatase) and the subsequent accumulation of the glycosaminoglycan (GAG), dermatan sulfate. In this study, a retroviral vector containing the full-length human ASB cDNA was constructed and used to transduce skin fibroblasts, chondrocytes, a...

Similar to many domains in the psychopathology literature, overlap and covariation between antisocial behavior (ASB) and alcohol dependence (AD) are oft documented but little understood. Although the relation between ASB and AD is reliably found and of substantial magnitude, it is not possible given the extant research to discriminate among alternative causal models that could give rise to this...

Urinary tract infection is a serious problem in diabetic patients, and asymptomatic bacteriuria (ASB) in these patients is a risk factor for pyelonephritis and renal dysfunction. In the present study, we investigated the relationships between age, body mass index, duration of diabetes, HbA1c level, glucosuria, glomerular filtration rate and microalbuminuria in type 2 diabetic patients with ASB....

BACKGROUND Antimicrobial resistance is an emerging problem. HYPOTHESIS/OBJECTIVE To investigate the safety and efficacy of a live biotherapeutic product, ASB E. coli 2-12 for UTI treatment. ANIMALS Six healthy research dogs; nine client-owned dogs with recurrent UTI. METHODS Prospective noncontrolled clinical trial. For safety data, research dogs were sedated, a urinary catheter was inser...

The chemokine IL-8 is critically important in inflammatory processes in human tissues, and IL-8 interactions with sulfated glycosaminoglycans have been implicated in modification of inflammatory responses in bronchial epithelium. To determine the role of chondroitin-4-sulfate (C4S) in mediating effects of IL-8, we silenced the enzyme N-acetylgalactosamine-4-sulfatase (arylsulfatase B [ASB]) tha...
