Motion in depth and/or zooming cause defocus blur. We show how the defocus blur in an image can be recovered simultaneously with affine motion. We introduce the theory, develop a solution method and demonstrate the validity of the theory and the solution by conducting experiments with real scenery.

This paper describes a simple, kinetic model of the effect of an antibody on the binding of a toxin to its receptor. This model has been used to evaluate the contributions of antibody affinity and concentration to reduction in complex formation and enable prediction of the antibody kinetic constants and concentration required to provide a specified degree of protection. An expression for determ...

Eighty-three patients with various neuro-ophthalmic diseases were submitted to a standard automated protocol including kinetic and static perimetry The kinetic protocol included one peripheral, one intermediate and one central isopter and a blind spot contour determination The static protocol included fast thresholding of 80 points within the pericentral field and a 4-2-2-2 foveolar threshold d...

A physical-space version of the stretched-vortex subgrid-stress model is presented and applied to large-eddy simulations of incompressible flows. This version estimates the subgrid-kinetic energy required for evaluation of the subgrid-stress tensor using local second-order structure-function information of the resolved velocity field at separations of order the local cell size. A relation betwe...

The aim of this preliminary study was to explore the effects of two types of augmented feedback on the strategy used by healthy participants and patients with knee osteoarthritis (OA) to perform a double-leg squat. Seven patients with knee OA and seven healthy participants performed three sets of eight double-leg squats: one without feedback, one with real-time kinematic feedback and one with r...

Define a static algorithm to be an algorithm that computes some combinatorial property of its input consisting of static, i.e., non-moving, objects. In this paper, we describe a technique for syntactically transforming static algorithms into kinetic algorithms, which compute the statically computed property under motion, à la kinetic data structures. Based on the properties of the transformatio...

We report on the synthesis and biological evaluation of a series of 1,2-diarylimidazol-4-carboxamide derivatives developed as CB1 receptor antagonists. These were evaluated in a radioligand displacement binding assay, a [35S]GTPγS binding assay, and in a competition association assay that enables the relatively fast kinetic screening of multiple compounds. The compounds show high affinities and...

The addition of a cerebral blood volume (CBV) compartment in the [18F]2-fluoro-2-deoxy-D-glucose (FDG) model produces estimates of local CBV simultaneously with glucose metabolic rates when kinetic FDG studies are performed. We investigated the influence of this term upon CMRglc values in a series of brain tumor patients and found that significant overestimations of CMRglc are possible if the e...
