human wharton’s jelly-derived mesenchymal stem cells (hwj-mscs) are easily available cells without transplant rejection problems or ethical concerns compared to bone-marrow-derived mscs for prospective clinical applications. these cells display immunosuppressive properties and may be able to play an important role in autoimmune disorders. regulatory t-cells (treg) are important to prevent autoi...

Phosphorylated AKT has been detected in extranodal NK/T-cell lymphoma, nasal type (ENTL). Either interleukin-2 (IL-2) or interleukin-15 (IL-15) could prevent AKT dephosphorylation and apoptosis in the NK-92 cell line model. IL-15, but not IL-2, was preferentially elevated in patients' serum. AKT and IL-15 may be important in ENTL tumor survival.

The first line treatments for acute gouty arthritis are nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAID), corticosteroids, and colchicine. However, these agents ineffective or contraindicated in a proportion of patients. Interleukin (IL)-1 is key mediator the pathogenesis arthritis. Recently, three IL-1-targeted have been developed, including anakinra, IL-1 receptor antagonist. authors present two ...

Background: Interleukin-17 (IL-17), as a potent proinflammatory cytokine, has a critical role in post liver transplant outcomes. However, there is not much information about the effects of IL-17 cytokine on acute liver rejection. Objective: To evaluate the role of IL-17 in post-liver transplant acute rejection. Methods: Ninety seven adult liver transplant patients who enrolled in this cross sec...

Tumor cells were isolated from the bone marrow of seven patients with multiple myeloma and from the peripheral blood of three patients with plasma cell leukemia using Ficoll-Hypaque (FH) density sedimentation followed by immune rosette depletion of T, myeloid, monocytoid, and natural killer (NK) cells. Enrichment to greater than or equal to 93% plasma cells was confirmed with Wright's-Giemsa st...

The effect of Sargassum pallidum (brown seaweed) aqueous extract on the immunity function and antioxidant activities in was studied gastric cancer rats. Treatment with Sargassum pallidum aqueous extract at oral doses 400, 600 or 800 mg/kg body weight was found to provide a dose-dependent protection against N-methyl-N′-nitro-Nnitrosoguanidine (MNNG)-induced immunity damage and oxidative injury b...

Interleukin-1 family 7 (IL-1F7) is a novel member of IL-1F cytokines. IL-1F7 is more commonly known as IL-37. IL-37 join the α-subunit of the IL-18 receptor, or IL-18 binding protein (IL-18BP), and binding of these proteins can enhance the IL-18 suppression. IL-37 also translocates to the cell nucleus and affects gene transcription. IL-37 inhibits the phosphorylation of p38 mitogen-activated pr...

Background:  New discoveries about the pathophysiology changed the concept that all forms of osteoarthritis are alike; this lead to the delineation of different phenotypes such as age, trauma or obese related forms. We aim to compare soluble mediator profiles in primary knee and posttraumatic wrist osteoarthritis. Based on the general faster progression rate of wrist osteoarthritis, we hypothes...

Introduction: Interleukin-18 (IL-18) is a strong proinflammatory cytokine that its increased levels are associated with obesity, metabolic syndrome, insulin resistance, dyslipidemia, and atherosclerosis. Thus, the purpose of this study was to investigate the relationships between serum interleukin-18 concentration with acylated ghrelin, growth hormone, insulin resistance, and lipid profile in o...
