Three-dimensional synthetic aperture radar (SAR) imaging of vehicles in urban setting are made possible by new data collection capabilities, in which airborne radar systems interrogate a large scene persistently and over a large range of aspect angles. Wide-angle 3-D reconstructions of vehicles can be useful in applications such as automatic target recognition (ATR) and fingerprinting. The back...
Synthetic aperture radar (SAR) based on frequency modulated continuous wave (FM-CW) transmission is a viable option for producing high resolution microwave imagery at low heights. In this paper, we show detailed analytical simulation for stripmap mode of FM-CW SAR imaging alongwith SAR images generated from actual airborne FM-CW radar video data collection. Key words—FM-CW, SAR, Range-Doppler, UAV
In this paper we report the results from a detailed investigation of the shifts of the world production frontier function over the period 1980-2010. Analogous to a radar we implement a novel measurement approach for these shifts using nonparametrically computed productivity measures to scan the frontier shifts across the entire input-output space. The shifts of the frontier function measured in...
Compressive sensing (CS) techniques offer a framework for the detection and allocation of sparse signals with a reduced number of samples. Today, modern radar systems operate with high bandwidths—demanding high sample rates according to the Shannon–Nyquist theorem—and a huge number of single elements for phased array consumption and costs of radar systems. There is only a small number of public...
Introduction: Understanding the relationship between ocean surface waves and the radar backscatter they generate is key to the development of new radar-based techniques to measure ocean parameters, such as wave height and current speed and direction, of importance to both the Navy and the civilian sector. This knowledge is also needed to improve the Navy’s ability to distinguish between signals...
In this paper the benefits of using highly integrated millimeter-wave FMCW radar systems for industrial and security imaging applications are discussed. A 240 GHz wideband transceiver MMIC with on-chip antennas is presented and first non destructive testing measurements of packed hazelnut chocolate are shown. The radar system covers the frequency band from 204GHz to 265GHz.
[1] Coherent radar imaging (CRI), which is fundamentally a beamforming process, has been used to create images of microscale, reflectivity structures within the resolution volume of atmospheric Doppler radars. This powerful technique has the potential to unlock many new discoveries in atmospheric studies. The Turbulent Eddy Profiler (TEP) is a unique 915 MHz boundary layer radar consisting of a...
