In the reaction of (2,4-dioxothiazolidin-5-yl)acetyl chloride with 1,2,4-triazole, 4-phenyl-1,2,4-triazolin-5-one and 4-phenyl-1,2,4-triazolin-5-thione, the new corresponding amides (2-4) were obtained. For compounds 2 and 4 effects on central nervous system (CNS) of mice were studied.

A series of complexes of novel chelating thione-alkene S(η(2)-C[double bond, length as m-dash]C)S tridentate ligands bound to late transition metals (Ir, Rh, Pd) were isolated and characterised. Counter-anions play an important role in the binding of the alkene moiety to the metals. Different solvents were observed to affect the stability of the rhodium complexes.

The 3,5-disubstituted tetrahydro-2H-1,3,5-thiadiazine-2-thione scaffold has found many applications in recent years. This review is aimed at highlighting the most important aspects of these compounds: synthesis, spectroscopic characterization and biological activities. How the chemical nature of N-substituents influences the overall activity and cytotoxicity profile will also be discussed.

A series of imidazo[2,1-b]thiazole were synthesized by reacting 4, 5-diphenylimidazole-2-thione with ketones in presence of iodine or bromine in a single step. The products were generated in good yields and characterized by standard analytical techniques such as IR, 1 H NMR, 13 C NMR and mass spectrometry. The synthesized products were also screened for their antimicrobial activities.

In the title compound, C(11)H(9)N(5)S, the dihedral angle between the mean planes of the thione-substituted triazole ring and benzonitrile ring is 4.28 (3)°. Inter-molecular N-H⋯S hydrogen bonds link the mol-ecules together into characteristic dimers.

In this work, it was of interest to synthesize new series of some 2-[(E)-2-furan-2-yl-vinyl]-quinazolin-4(3H)-ones incorporated into pyrazoline, isoxazoline, pyrimidine or pyrimidine-thione ring systems at position-3 of the quinazoline ring. The antimicrobial activity and antiinflammatory effect of some of these compounds were studied.

The configuration of the thione-aryl C-N single bond in the title mol-ecule, C(10)H(12)N(2)O(3)S, is E. Centrosymmetrically related mol-ecules are connected into a dimer via an eight-membered thio-amide {⋯H-N-C=S}(2) synthon and mol-ecules are consolidated into the crystal structure via C-H⋯O inter-actions.

The title compound, C(8)H(11)N(5)S, has been prepared by the reaction of 2-acetyl-pyrazine with 4-methyl-3-thio-semi-carbazide. It exists in the thione form and adopts the E configuration. The mol-ecules are connected by the inter-molecular N-H⋯N and N-H⋯S inter-actions.
