Metastatic tumors to the breast from colon adenocarcinoma are very rare. They are usually indicative of disseminated disease, and the prognosis is poor. Generally, radical operation should be avoided unless needed for palliation. This case report described a patient with breast metastasis from colon adenocarcinoma treated by simple mastectomy.
Abstract Background Primary breast cancer is the commonest malignancy in adult females. However, metastases to a rare occurrence with frequency of approximately 0.2% - 1.3%. Lung adenocarcinoma most common type lung and distant other organs carry poor prognosis. A wide variety malignancies can metastasise breast, melanoma being common. On review literature there paucity published cases primary ...
Male breast cancer arising in ectopic axillary breast tissue is a rare occurrence and few cases have been reported in the literature. Due to its rarity, male axillary breast cancer is easy to misdiagnose. As for adenocarcinoma in the axilla, it is difficult to identify whether the origin is the mammary tissue or the skin appendages, particularly in cases where there is a poor differentiation. T...
Design, synthesis, and conjugation of mesoporous silica nanoparticles (MSNs) with biomolecules is a matter of growing interest to enhance selective uptake of contrast agents like gadolinium (Gd3+) by cancer cells. Here, by targeting xc-cystine/glutamate antiporter system in breast cancer cells, conjugation of MSN-Gd3+ with cysteine is used to enhance cancer cellular uptake of Gd3+. Reactions de...
In vitro studies on cancer cell lines still constitutes a major part of cancer research. It is very important that the researchers consider the importance of basic conditions of working with different cell lines. To the best of authors knowledge, this study is the first one to report the effect of seeding density on the growth curve of three human cancer cell lines. These cell lines include hum...
A new class of tricyclic heterocycles 4H-benzo[g][1,2,3]triazolo[5,1-c][1,4]oxazocines was synthesized through a Knoevenagel condensation/azide-alkyne cycloaddition reaction cascade in one-pot operation. These eight membered ring containing heterocycles exhibited moderately high anticancer activity against four cancer cell lines; human cervix cancer cell line (HeLa), human prostate cancer cell ...
Breast cancer comprises 10.4% of all cancer incidences among women, making it the most common type of non-skin cancer in women and the fifth most common cause of cancer death. Silibinin, also known as silybin, is the major active constituent of silymarin. Silibinin has also demonstrated anticancer effects against human prostate adenocarcinoma cells, estrogen-dependent and – independent human br...
Lactate dehydrogenase activity (LDH) was measured in the MCF-7 human breast cancer cell line derived at the Michigan Cancer Foundation from a patient with metastatic breast adenocarcinoma. LDH was found in the 46,000 X g supernatant of cell lysates, but not in the culture medium. Only the fifth isozyme (LDH-5) could be demonstrated by cellulose acetate electrophoresis and relative heat inactiva...
