Nanocrystalline nickel molybdate (NiMoO(4)) thin film electrodes with a 3D honeycomb structure of uniform 17 nm diameter pores were successfully produced through facile polymer templating strategies. These novel sol-gel type materials exhibit enhanced lithium ion storage capabilities, and thus show promise for battery applications.

Geometry constructions of honeycomb core are finding increasing use because of their relative advantages over other structural materials in terms of improved stability, high stiffness to weight and strength to weight ratios. It provides an efficient solution to increase bending stiffness without significant increase in structural weight. However, honeycomb carton, as a new product of paper hone...

The present study investigated the potential of a novel micropatterned substrate for neocartilage formation. Articular chondrocytes were cultured on poly( ɛ-caprolactone) materials whose surfaces were either flat or honeycomb-patterned. The latter was prepared using a novel self-organization technique, while the former, was prepared by spin-coating. The chondrocytes attached and proliferated on...

A hexachiral honeycomb structure with good mechanical properties, is investigated through full wave electromagnetic simulation. This new material shows some interesting EMC properties and promises better performance using different insertion techniques. The effect of the electromagnetic chirality is investigated. Design maps and thermal computations are derived.

The Delafossite (CuFeO2) structure is formed from triangular layers of edge-sharing metal-oxygen octahedra separated by Cu 1+ sticks. It resembles the NaFeO2 structure, with layers of Cu 1+ sticks replacing the layers of Na + octahedra. Materials with such structures have been of interest as transparent films with p-type conductivity, thermoelectrics, superconductors, and multiferroics. Two pol...

Two star-shaped triazatrinaphthylene (TrisK) derivatives form highly-organized nanoporous honeycomb networks when adsorbed at the n-tetradecane/HOPG interface. STM reveals that replacing three H-atoms by three Cl-atoms in the chemical structure of the TrisK skeleton results in locking the free-rotation of the guest molecules inside the pore of the host network as a result of symmetry breaking.

Oiscussed in the paper is the mixed scenario of charged liquid surface reconstruction when the surface 20 charge density is c1o$e to the saturation . The basic building block of the arising honeycomb structure is shown to be a modifie multielectron dimple.

We introduce a novel class of stable lattice solitons with a complex phase structure composed of many single-charge discrete vortices in a triangular photonic lattice. We demonstrate that such nonlinear self-trapped states are linked to the resonant Bloch modes, which bear a honeycomb pattern of phase dislocations.

We develop an analytically solvable model able to qualitatively explain nonhydrogenicexciton spectra observed recently in two-dimensional (20) semiconducting transition-metal dichalcogenides. Our exciton Hamiltonian explicitly includes additional angular momentum associated with the pseudospin degree of freedom unavoidable in 20 semiconducting materials with honeycomb structure. We claim that t...

We calculate the global phase diagram using classical statistical mechanics for an isotropic pair potential that has been previously [Rechtsman et al., Phys. Rev. Lett. 95, 228301 (2005)] shown to produce the low-coordinated two-dimensional honeycomb crystal as the ground-state structure. Low-coordinated crystals are of practical interest because they have desirable photonic band-gap properties...
