Phytochemical studies of leaf of the herbs, Andrographis paniculata and Andrographis lineate (Acanthaceae) were carried out. We performed lymphocyte transformation tests (LTTs) for toki (angelicae radix) and ogon (scutellariae radix) on first-visit patients who had never taken Kampo medicines. LTTs for both herbs were positive in 12 of 14 patients, suggesting that LTTs for these herbs are unreliable for the diagnosis of Kampo medicine-induced liver injury.
