Pentavalent uranium complexes of the formula U(V)X(2)[N(SiMe(3))(2)](3) (X = F(-), Cl(-), Br(-), N(3)(-), NCS(-)) are accessible from the oxidation of U(III)[N(SiMe(3))(2)](3) through two sequential, one-electron oxidation reactions (halides) and substitution through salt metathesis (pseudohalides). Uranium(v) mixed-halides are also synthesized by successive one-electron oxidation reactions.
Novel cross-linked supramolecular polymer metallogels were successfully constructed from four components via a self-sorting strategy, and feature interesting multiple stimulus-response behaviors under various external stimuli, including halide, base, and competitive guests.
In the salt, (H(3)O)(2)[Cd(2)Br(4.5)Cl(1.5)]·6C(18)H(15)OP, the hydro-nium cation forms short O-H⋯O hydrogen bonds to the O atoms of the triphenyl-phosphine oxide units. The centrosymmetric dinuclear anion has two halide atoms functioning in a bridging mode, which confers tetra-hedral coordination to the Cd atom. The three independent halide atoms are each a mixture of bromide and chloride; the...
The photophysical properties of films of organic-inorganic lead halide perovskites under different ambient conditions are herein reported. We demonstrate that their luminescent properties are determined by the interplay between photoinduced activation and darkening processes, which strongly depend on the atmosphere surrounding the samples. We have isolated oxygen and moisture as the key element...
This paper reports the direct and precise measurement of bubble coalescence in salt solutions using microfluidics. We directly visualized the bubble coalescence process in a microchannel using high-speed imaging and evaluated the shortest coalescence time to determine the transition concentration of sodium halide solutions. We found the transition concentration is ion-specific, and the capacity...
We have successfully developed a novel cathodic cross-coupling reaction of aryl halides with arenes. Utilization of the cathodic single electron transfer (SET) mechanism for activation of aryl halides enables the cross-coupling reaction to proceed without the need for any transition metal catalysts or single electron donors in a mild condition. The SET from a cathode to an aryl halide initiates...
Using the stable metalloradical Mn(CO)3(CNArDipp2)2, we report the formation of manganese-main group complexes via the single-electron functionalization of main group halides. The reactions occur in a simple 1 : 1 stoichiometry, and demonstrate the utility of using stable open-shelled organometallics as precursors for metal-main group compounds. This has enabled the preparation of manganese com...
