We use the LSZ reduction theorem and interpolating fields, alongwith the heavy quark effective theory, to investigate the structure of the BetheSalpeter amplitude for heavy hadrons. We show how a simple form of this amplitude, used extensively in heavy hadron decay calculations, follows naturally upto O(1/M) from these field theoretic considerations. The high demand for more intense neutrino beams is closely related to an increase of the production of radioactive isotopes in target caverns, decay tunnels and hadron stop areas. This paper gives a (short) summary of radiation protection lessons learned from the past CERN neutrino facility WANF and also from presently operating facilities like NuMI or CNGS.

I briefly review the description of inclusive heavy hadron decays based on the inverse heavy quark mass expansion. In particular, I consider the transition B → Xulν and the problem of extracting Vub, mainly as far as the separation from the background represented by b → c modes is concerned. I also discuss how to obtain complementary information from the decay mode B → Xsγ.

Double parton scattering, i.e. two parton hard scattering processes in the same hadron-hadron collision, may constitute an important background for Higgs and other new particle searches at the LHC.
