The 3rd order constants theory in solid material was completed with the papers by Toupin and Bernstein, Jones and Kobett and Truesdell [8-10]. Truesdell used four 3rd-order elastic constants in his general theory for isotropic solid. Brugger [11] gave the thermodynamic definition of higher order elastic constants. In 1973, Green reviewed 3rd-order constants measurements of various crystals, and...

A nonlinear generalization of the Fluctuation-Dissipation Theorem (FDT) for the n-point Green functions and the amputated 1PI vertex functions at finite temperature is derived in the framework of the Closed Time Path formalism. We verify that this generalized FDT coincides with known results for n = 2 and 3. New explicit relations among the 4-point nonlinear response and correlation (fluctuatio...

We apply multiresolution techniques to study the eeective properties of boundary value problems. Conditions under which boundary values are preserved in the eeective (\ho-mogenized") formulation are developed and discussed. Relations between the eigenfunctions and eigenvalues of the generic formulation and those of the eeective formulation are explored and their dependence on the micro-scale is...

We investigate the particle and kinetic-energy densities for N noninteracting fermions confined in a local potential. Using Gutzwiller's semiclassical Green function, we describe the oscillating parts of the densities in terms of closed nonperiodic classical orbits. We derive universal relations between the oscillating parts of the densities for potentials with spherical symmetry in arbitrary d...

We study the structure of the flow monoid of a regular semigroup. This arises from the approach of Nambooripad of considering a regular semigroup as a groupoid – a category in which every morphism is invertible. A flow is then a section to the source map in this groupoid, and the monoid structure of the set of all flows is determined in terms of the Green relations on the original semigroup.

Global Governance has become a buzzword in the social sciences in general and in International Relations (IR) in particular. Many different phenomena, from the influence of civil society on international decision-making processes to the role of intergovernmental organisations and transnational corporations in world politics, are invoked as examples of global governance. However, upon closer ins...

Offsetting complexity of societal dialogue, netizen has dripped down mollifying social contract – which is also redefining new context in international relations (IR) indeed. With emergence of the Internet, especially web 2.0, convenient media structure has been reshaping to meet expectation of public and new dynamics of social relations are also gaining new vibes which sometimes turns into con...

This article explores deterrence, a time-honoured concept in International Relations (ir), through the application of systemism, a concept borrowed from the philosophy of science. The purpose of this study is to provide a diagrammatic exposition that establishes the “value added” from systemism vis-à-vis the research on deterrence. A series of exchanges involving us-led efforts to deter Saddam ...
