In this paper, we study the stability of equilibrium for a foreign trade model consisting of three countries. As the gravity equation has been proven an excellent tool of analysis and adequately stable over time and space all over the world, we further enhance the problem to three masses. We use the basic Structure of Heckscher–Ohlin–Samuelson model. The national income equals consumption outla...
The objective of this paper is to study the existence of solitary wave solutions of a fifth order model equation for steady capillary-gravity waves over a bump with the Bond number near 1/3. We proved that there exist solitary wave solutions of the model equation for a sufficiently smooth compact bump. Key-Words: Steady capillary-gravity wave, Solitary wave solution, Compact bump.
The proliferation of country groupings indicates the need to assess the effectiveness of the current system for development cooperation and to explore better ways to manage the international system, as heterogeneity among developing countries increases. Great caution should be exercised in devising new country categories. Donors can use sound criteria for aid allocation without creating new gro...
A field theoretical realization of topological gravity is discussed in the semirigid geometry context. In particular, its topological nature is given by the relation between deRham cohomology and equivariant BRST cohomology and the fact that all but one of the physical operators are BRST-exact. The puncture equation and the dilaton equation of pure topological gravity are reproduced, following ...
The author develops the theory of pseudo differential equations and boundary value problems in nonsmooth domains. A model pseudo differential equation in a special cone is reduced to a certain integral equation. AMS Subject Classifications: 35S15, 45F05.
Liquidity constraints and partial risk-sharing are often indistinguishable. However, I illustrate using artificial data from two different model economies how band spectrum regression can be used to distinguish between lack of consumption insurance and liquidity constraints. JEL Classifications: D1, E21.
This paper considers incomplete information games with payoffs subject to correlated random disturbances. It explains the connection between the uniqueness of quantal response equilibria, where large noise is required, and the uniqueness of equilibria in global games, where small noise is required. JEL classifications: C72, D82.
This paper analyzes a two–stage sealed–bid auction that is frequently employed in privatization, takeover, and merger and acquisition contests. This auction format yields the same expected revenue as the open ascending (English) auction, yet is less susceptible to preemptive bidding and collusion. JEL classifications: D44 (Auctions)
BlL, a galactose-binding C-type lectin purified from Bothrops leucurus snake venom, exhibits anticancer activity. The current study was designed to elucidate the cellular mechanisms by which BlL induces melanoma cell death. The viabilities of B16-F10 melanoma cells and HaCaT keratinocytes treated with BlL were evaluated. Necrotic and apoptotic cell death, cytosolic Ca(2+) levels, mitochondrial ...
Concern for individual consumption relative to per capita consumption can induce a fear of falling behind which increases precautionary savings. This fear intensifies as societal income growth increases, allowing for a positive effect of growth on savings rates. JEL classifications: E21, D11, D91.
