The clinical success of indirect restorations is dependent on multiple factors that include preparation design, mechanical forces, restorative material selection, oral hygiene, and selection of a proper luting agent. The selection of the luting agent is dependent on the specific clinical situation, the type of restoration utilized and the physical, biologic, and handling properties of the lutin...

Bioactive glass ionomer cements (GICs), the reaction product of a fluoro-alumino-silicate glass and polyacrylic acid, have been in effective use in dentistry for over 40 years and more recently in orthopaedics and medical implantation. Their desirable properties have affirmed GIC's place in the medical materials community, yet are limited to non-load bearing applications due to the brittle natu...

STATEMENT OF PROBLEM In order to increase the performance of glass ionomer cement, it is reinforced with metal powders, short fibers, bioceramics and other materials. Fluoroapatite (Ca10(PO4)6F2) is found in dental enamel and is usually used in dental materials due to its good chemical and physical properties. OBJECTIVES In this study, the effects of the addition of synthesized fluoroapatite ...

The prospect of repair, regeneration, and remineralisation the tooth tissue is currently transitioning from exploratory stages to successful clinical applications with materials such as dentine substitutes that offer bioactive stimulation. Glass-ionomer or polyalkenoate cements are widely used in oral healthcare, especially due their ability adhere structure fluoride-releasing capacity. Since g...

OBJECTIVE The aim of this study was to investigate the adaptation of different types of restorations towards deciduous and young permanent teeth. MATERIAL AND METHODS Class V cavities were prepared in deciduous and young permanent teeth and filled with different materials (a conventional glass-ionomer, a resin-modified glass-ionomer, a poly-acid-modified composite resin and a conventional com...

OBJECTIVE STATEMENT OF PROBLEM Adequate bond strength between glass ionomer cements and composite resin is necessary for the success of the sandwich technique. PURPOSE OF STUDY This study assessed the micro-shear bond strength of composite resin to glass-ionomer cements (GIC) using self-etch adhesives with different pH values. MATERIALS AND METHODS One hundred specimens (6×4×2 mm) were m...

The aim of this study was to evaluate the in vitro antibacterial and biofilm inhibition properties of glass ionomer restorative cements. Ketac Nano, Vitremer, Ketac Molar Easymix and Fuji IX were analyzed using the following tests: a) agar plate diffusion test to evaluate the inhibitory activity of cements against S. mutans (n=8); b) S. mutans adherence test by counting colony-forming units aft...

A comparative study of vortex phase diagrams in two weakly pinned low Tc superconductors, Ca3Rh4Sn13 (CaRhSn) and Yb3Rh4Sn13 (YbRhSn), is presented. In CaRhSn, we can witness a disorder-driven transition via the phenomenon of second magnetization peak whose field-temperature dependence is analogous to that often discussed in the context of a Bragg glass (BG) to vortex glass (VG) transition.
