Genetic diversity is essential to meet the diversified goals of plant breeding such as producing cultivars with increased yield, wider adaptation, desirable quality, pest and disease resistance. In this study genetic diversity and selection index of 24 genotypes of bread wheat were evaluated. The performance of 24 wheat genotypes showed that there were significant variations for the characters ...

Safflower (Carthamus tinctoius L.) is an Iranian native crop that is adapted to different environmental conditions of this country. Sixteen safflower varieties/lines were spring-planted in 6 research stations including Sararood (Kermanshah), Maragheh, Ghamlo (Kordestan), Khodabandeh (Zanjan), Shirvan (North Khorasan)and Khohdasht (Lorestan) with and without drought stress conditions each in a R...

To determine the ideal genotypes in terms of the quantity and quality of fruit, 32 genotypes of greengage were evaluated in a randomized complete block design with three replications at the research station of Horticultural Research Institute in Karaj during two cropping seasons 2018 and 2019. To evaluate the genotypes and to determine the ideal genotype, 26 traits related to fruit, fruiting an...

This study aimed to investigate the genetic parameters of ten Cucurbita pepo L. hybrid cultivars, including seven foreign hybrid cultivars (F1 Shiraz, F1 Khaleej, F1 Samar, F1 Roham, F1 Daphne, F1 Asma and F1 Oto) and three domestic hybrid cultivars (F1 Peronesh, F1 BL and F1 CL) in the form of a randomized complete block design with 3 replications at the Pest Investigation Research Station and...

In order to evaluate genetic diversity and determine genetic relationship of 64 Kabuli chickpea genotypes under late season drought stress, an experimental design was carried out in a simple lattice design (8×8) in 2011 on the research field of college of Agriculture and natural resource of Tehran University. Based on factor analysis, four factors were selected that in total 81 percent of the t...

This research was conducted to evaluate drought tolerance of safflower genotypes (Carthamus tinctorius L.) at the research farm of Isfahan University of Technology, Isfahan, Iran during growing season of 2012. One hundred genotypes including 81 foreign genotypes along with 19 Iranian genotypes were evaluated under normal and moisture stress conditions according to a simple lattice design with t...

Randomly amplified polymorphic DNA (RAPD) markers were used to study the genetic diversity and discriminate among 17 unknown genotypes (considered potentially salt tolerant) and 16 known olive cultivars. Fifteen decamer primers which produced 38 reproducible polymorphic bands in the genotypes were selected for analysis. The RAPD markers resulted in 93 distinct banding patterns. Based on either ...

Four genotypes of soybean (Glycine max L. Merr.) were taken for investigation to know their response towards chromium stress. On the basis of seedling growth vigour index and dry weight, the genotypes JS 355 and P 1 were found tolerant to chromium stress when compared to the other genotypes. The tolerant genotypes had shown higher proline contents in their shoots.

The challenge of the interaction of genotype × environment is one of the main issues in plant breeding. Various statistical methods to estimate the interaction of genotype × environment and choice the stable and productive genotype(s) have been introduced. In this study, 14 lentil genotypes along with two controls (Sepehr and Gachsaran cultivars) were evaluated during four growing seasons (2016...

In this study, 33 spring and winter wheat genotypes were analyzed for carotenoid content and composition. Investigated genotypes were divided into four genotype groups i.e., spelt, landraces, old cultivars and primitive wheat. The results showed a high level of variation among the genotypes in amount of carotenoids in the grain with high values (around 4 mg/Kg) especially in one of the genotype...
