The newest, and asymptotically the fastest known integer factorisation algorithm is the number eld sieve. The area in which the number eld sieve has the greatest capacity for improvement is polynomial selection. The best known polynomial selection method nds quadratic polynomials. In this paper we examine the smoothness properties of integer values taken by these polynomials. Given a quadratic ...

BACKGROUND Multiple severity scoring systems have been devised and evaluated in adult sepsis, but a simplified scoring model for pediatric sepsis has not yet been developed. This study aimed to develop and validate a new scoring model to stratify the severity of pediatric sepsis, thus assisting the treatment of sepsis in children. METHODS Data from 634 consecutive patients who presented with ...

We propose a probabilistic algorithm for factorization of an integer N with run time (exp^log/V loglogJV)/5/4"1""'1'. Asymptotically, our algorithm will be as fast as the wellknown factorization algorithm of Morrison and Brillhart. The latter algorithm will fail in several cases and heuristic assumptions are needed for its run time analysis. Our new algorithm will be analyzed under the assumpti...

In this paper we intend to examine the application of Kullback-Leibler, Hellinger and LINEX loss function in Dynamic Linear Model using the real price of oil for 106 years of data from 1913 to 2018 concerning the asymmetric problem in filtering and forecasting. We use DLM form of the basic Hoteling Model under Quadratic loss function, Kullback-Leibler, Hellinger and LINEX trying to address the ...

Multivariate Gaussian distribution is a popular assumption in many pattern recognition tasks. The quadratic discriminant function (QDF) is an effective classification approach based on this assumption. An improved algorithm, called modified QDF (or MQDF in short) has achieved great success and is widely recognized as the state-of-the-art method in character recognition. However, because both of...

We address a complex scheduling problem in the wood panel industry with the objective of minimizing a quadratic function of job tardiness. The proposed solution strategy, which is based on an effective genetic algorithm, has been coded and implemented within a major north african compagny leader in the wood panel manufacturing. Experimental results indicate significant decrease of delivery times.

We present a probabilistic algorithm for computing the regulator R of a real quadratic order of discriminant ∆ running in time L( 1 2 , 3/ √ 8 + o(1)).
