Gastric disease is usually the result of inflammation, ulceration, neoplasia, or obstruction and manifests clinically as vomiting, hematemesis, melena, retching, burping, hypersalivation, abdominal distension, abdominal pain, or weight loss. The clinical approach is simplified by considering gastric diseases as a group of clinical syndromes based on the combination of etiology, pathology, and c...

BACKGROUND/AIMS Proton pump inhibitors (PPIs) are widely used for the treatment of acid-related gastrointestinal diseases. Recently, some studies have reported that PPIs can alter the gastric mucosal architecture; however, the relationship remains controversial. This meta-analysis study was designed to quantify the association between long-term PPI administration and gastric atrophy. MATERIAL...

abstractbackground: pathogenicity ofthe helicobacter pylori-caga positive was associated with epiyamotifs and higher number of epiya-c segments is a risk for gastric cancer, while duodenal ulcer-promoting gene (dupa) is determinedas a protective factor against gastric cancer. our aim was to determine the epiya-cagaphosphorylation sites and dupa gene in h. pylori isolates amongpatients with upper...

The proposal of this revolutionary project is a mission which has never been thought by any human kind and which is now on the verge of production by us. Electrogastrography and capsule endoscopy are contributing in the diagnosis of Gastric diseases. On their individual functioning, as a diagnostic tool, they are not capable of producing appropriate results such as the position of tumor in the ...

Helicobacter pylori is a gram-negative pathogen that colonizes the stomachs of over half the world's population and causes a spectrum of gastric diseases including gastritis, ulcers, and gastric carcinoma. The H. pylori species exhibits unusually high levels of genetic variation between strains. Here we announce the complete genome sequence of H. pylori strain G27, which has been used extensive...

Helicobacter pylori infection is a risk factor for the development of gastric cancer and other gastroduodenal diseases. We report here the complete genome sequence of H. pylori strain 29CaP, isolated from a Mexican patient with gastric cancer. The genomic data analysis revealed a cag-negative H. pylori strain that contains a prophage sequence.

Background: Gastric cancer is the first most common cancer death in Iran. There have been many efforts in finding the most effective proteins in this cancer. Using the proteins identified in gastric cancer combined with advanced computational tools in analyzing biological networks, we have developed a rational method in order to identify candidate proteins associated with this cancer. Materi...

A 42-year-old female patient with no previous known diseases who had complaints of postprandial epigastric pain and weight loss and who could not be diagnosed by endoscopic biopsy, although gastric cancer was suspected radiologically and endoscopically, was diagnosed with primary gastric tuberculosis by laparotomy and frozen section. Following anti-tuberculosis treatment, a complete clinical, r...

Helicobacter pylori colonizes the human gastric mucosa, leading to a spectrum of gastric diseases in susceptible populations. Here we announce the draft genome sequences of strains HPARG8G and HPARG63. The data for both genome sequences provide insights regarding the diversity in gene content and rearrangement of the genomic islands commonly harbored by H. pylori.
