Developmental dysplasia of the hip is the preferred term to describe the condition in which the femoral head has an abnormal relationship to the acetab ulum. Developmental dysplasia of the hip includes frank dislocation (luxation), partial dislocation (subluxation), instability wherein the femoral head comes in and out of the socket, and an array of radiographic abnormalities that reflect inad...

Archaeologists can now collect an inordinate amount of 3D data. But are these 3D data sustainable? Are they being managed to make them accessible? The MayaArch3D Project researched and addressed these questions by applying best practices to build four prototype tools to store, manage, visualize, and analyze multiresolution, geo-referenced 3D models in a web-based environment. While the technica...

We present preliminary results of a search for B0 → K0K0 decays in the K0 S K0 S final state using a sample of approximately 23 million BB pairs collected by the BABAR detector at the PEP-II asymmetric B Factory at SLAC. We find no evidence for a signal and set an upper limit on the branching fraction of 7.3 × 10−6 at the 90% confidence level. Submitted to the 9 International Symposium on Heavy...

We compare level-k utility maximization and level-k regret minimization in evolutionary competition based on averages of one-shot plays over many randomly generated strategic games. Under the assumption that Theory-of-Mind-reasoning of depth k incurs a cost monotonically increasing with k, our results show that mixed states with low levels of reasoning depth k can be evolutionary stable with su...

We present preliminary results from a search for the rare, flavor-changing neutral current decays B → Kl+l− and B → K∗l+l−, where l+l− is either an e+e− or μ+μ− pair. The data sample comprises (84.4 ± 0.9) × 106 Υ (4S) → BB decays (77.8 fb−1) collected with the BABAR detector at the PEP-II B Factory. For B → Kl+l−, we observe a signal with estimated significance of 4.4σ and obtain B(B → Kl+l−) ...

We present updated measurements of branching fractions and CP -violating asymmetries for neutral B meson decays to two-body final states of charged pions and kaons. The results are obtained from a data sample of about 60 million Υ (4S) → BB decays collected between 1999 and 2001 by the BABAR detector at the PEP-II asymmetric-energy B Factory at SLAC. The sample contains 124 −15 ππ, 403± 24 Kπ, ...

Although osteoarthritis (OA) has existed since the dawn of humanity, its pathogenesis remains poorly understood. OA is no longer considered a “wear and tear” condition but rather one driven by proteases where chronic low-grade inflammation may play a role in perpetuating proteolytic activity. While multiple factors are likely active in this process, recent evidence has implicated the innate imm...
