Mutations have been characterized that map in the prfA gene of Salmonella typhimurium. These weak amber suppressors show increased readthrough of UAG but not UAA or UGA codons. Some hemA mutants exhibit a similar suppressor activity due to transcriptional polarity on prfA. All of the suppressors mapping in prfA are recessive to the wild type. Two mutant prfA genes were cloned onto plasmids, and...

We propose a decoding method for the generalized algebraic geometry codes proposed by Xing et al. To show its practical usefulness, we give an example of generalized algebraic geometry codes of length 567 over F8 whose numbers of correctable errors by the proposed method are larger than the shortened codes of the primitive BCH codes of length 4095 in the most range of dimension.

In this study, the tet(W) gene region of a human clinical isolate of Clostridium difficile resistant to tetracycline was characterized. This gene was a new allele showing 99% sequence identity to the gene found in the human strain Bifidobacterium longum F8, and it is not transferable by "in vitro" mating experiments.

Here, we report the draft genome sequence of Bacillus niacini JAM F8, which was newly isolated from deep-sea sediment at a depth of 2,759 m from the Izu-Ogasawara Trench. An array of genes related to degradation of glycosaminoglycans in this bacterium was identified by whole-genome analysis.

Fusobacterium nucleatum is a Gram-negative, nonmotile, obligately anaerobic rod bacterium which might play an important role in the initiation and progression of periodontal diseases. F. nucleatum subsp. vincentii ChDC F8 (KCOM 1231) was isolated from a human gingivitis lesion. Here, we report the draft genome sequence of the strain.

Pseudomonas aeruginosa is an important cause of infection, especially in immunocompromised patients. In this regard, strains producing carbapenemases, mainly metallo-β-lactamases (MBLs), have become a significant public health concern. Here, we present the complete annotated genome sequence (65.7 kb) of an F8-related lytic myovirus (Pbunalikevirus genus) that infects MBL-producing P. aeruginosa...

We determine the η−η mixing angle via a procedure relatively independent of theoretical assumptions by simultaneously fitting η, η reactions involving the anomaly— η, η → γγ, π+π−γ. We extract reasonably precise renormalized values of the octet and singlet pseudoscalar decay constants F8, F0, as well as the mixing angle θ. * Research supported in part by the National Science Foundation

The impact of treatment-related factors on inhibitor development in previously untreated patients (PUPs) with haemophilia A is still debated. We present the results of a collaborative, individual patient data meta-analytic project. Eligible data sources were published cohorts of PUPs for which patient-level data were available. The exposures of interest were factor (F)VIII type (recombinant [rF...

Living in a disadvantaged neighborhood is associated with poor health outcomes even after accounting for individual-level socioeconomic factors. The chronic stress of unfavorable neighborhood conditions may lead to dysregulation of the stress reactivity and inflammatory pathways, potentially mediated through epigenetic mechanisms such as DNA methylation. We used multi-level models to examine th...

OBJECTIVE F16, F8 and L19 are three fully human monoclonal antibodies, specific to splice isoforms of tenascin-C and fibronectin, which stain sites of active tissue remodeling and which are currently in Phase I and II clinical trials as radio-immunoconjugates and immunocytokines in patients with cancer and arthritis. The characterization of atherosclerosis using these antibodies may open novel ...
