In this paper we study solutions to stochastic differential equations (SDEs) with discontinuous drift. We apply two approaches: The Euler-Maruyama method and the Fokker-Planck equation and show that a candidate density function based on the Euler-Maruyama method approximates a candidate density function based on the stationary Fokker-Planck equation. Furthermore, we introduce a smooth function ...

In this paper, we study the unconditional convergence and error estimates of a Galerkin-mixed FEM with the linearized semi-implicit Euler scheme for the equations of incompressible miscible flow in porous media. We prove that the optimal L2 error estimates hold without any time-step (convergence) conditions, while all previous works require certain time-step restrictions. Our theoretical result...

In this article, we report results of an experimental study on six iterative methods to compute the transient probabilities of large Markov models: full matrix exponentiation, forward Euler method, explicit Runge-Kutta methods of order 2 and 4 and Adams-Bashforth multi-steps methods of order 2 and 4. We suggest a simple but efficient implementation of these algorithms. We discuss how to tune th...

In this paper we study numerical methods for hybrid fuzzy fractional differential equations and the iteration method is used to solve the hybrid fuzzy fractional differential equations with a fuzzy initial condition. We consider a differential equation of fractional order and we compared the results with their exact solutions in order to demonstrate the validity and applicability of the method....

In this paper, we give a new method for solving large scale problems. The basic idea of this method depends on implementing the conjugate gradient as a corrector into a continuation method. We use the Euler method as a predictor. Adaptive steplength control is used during the tracing of the solution curve. We present some of our experimental examples to demonstrate the efficiency of the method.

Abstract. In this paper, the author propose a numerical method to compute the solution of the Cauchy problem: wt − (w m wx)x = w , the initial condition is a nonnegative function with compact support, m > 0, 1 < p < m + 1. The problem is split in two parts: A hyperbolic term solved by using the Hopf and Lax formula and a parabolic term solved by a backward linearized Euler method in time and a ...

Using the abstract framework of [9] we analyze a residual a posteriori error estimator for space-time finite element discretizations of quasilinear parabolic pdes. The estimator gives global upper and local lower bounds on the error of the numerical solution. The finite element discretizations in particular cover the so-called θ-scheme, which includes the implicit and explicit Euler methods and...

In this paper, we consider the cascadic multigrid method for a parabolic type equation. Backward Euler approximation in time and linear finite element approximation in space are employed. A stability result is established under some conditions on the smoother. Using new and sharper estimates for the smoothers that reflect the precise dependence on the time step and the spatial mesh parameter, t...

The main purpose of this paper is to investigate the strong convergence and exponential stability in mean square of the exponential Euler method to semi-linear stochastic delay differential equations (SLSDDEs). It is proved that the exponential Euler approximation solution converges to the analytic solution with the strong order [Formula: see text] to SLSDDEs. On the one hand, the classical sta...

Euler diagrams are used in a wide variety of areas for representing information about relationships between collections of objects. Recently, several techniques for automated Euler diagram drawing have been proposed, contributing to the Euler diagram generation problem: given an abstract description, draw an Euler diagram with that description and which possesses certain properties, sometimes c...
