We investigated the biological properties of a novel staphylococcal enterotoxin-like putative toxin, staphylococcal enterotoxin-like toxin type R (SElR). Major histocompatibility complex class II molecules were required for T-cell stimulation by SElR. SElR stimulated T cells bearing receptors Vbeta 3, 11, 12, 13.2, and 14. These results suggested that SElR acts as a superantigen.
VYLETĚLOVÁ, M., BANYKÓ, J.: Detection of coding genes for enterotoxins in Bacillus cereus by PCR and their products by BCET-RPLA and ELISA Assay. Acta univ. agric. et silvic. Mendel. Brun., 2010, LVIII, No. 5, pp. 417–426 Determination of enterotoxin production, diarrhoeal and emetic gene identifi cation was studied in 41 Bacillus cereus strains isolated from raw cows’ and raw goats’ milk, past...
Background: An annual update of information about the prevalence of Staphylococcus aureus and staphylococcal enterotoxins (SEs) genes is required in every geographic area. Aims: This study was conducted to investigate the prevalence of the bacterium and type of associated enterotoxin genes in different food samples, using multiplex polymerase ...
An immunoassay employing (125)I labeled enterotoxins A and B and polystyrene tubes coated with specific antibodies was used for detection and quantitation of enterotoxin in food. Ham salad, cheddar cheese, custard, condensed milk, and salami were studied. Enterotoxin was successfully determined in all the foods by simple extraction procedures. The assay was sensitive to 1 to 10 ng of toxin per ...
Bacillus cereus is an important cause of foodborne infectious disease and food poisoning. However, B. cereus has also been used as a probiotic in human medicine and livestock production, with low standards of safety assessment. In this study, we evaluated the safety of 15 commercial probiotic B. cereus preparations from China in terms of mislabeling, toxin production, and transferable antimicro...
The aim of this study was to determine the frequency of enterotoxigenic and enteroaggregative strains ofEscherichia coli in chicken carcasses by polymerase chain reaction (PCR). In this study 63 strains of E. coliwere isolated from 110 samples of chicken carcasses during processing after chilling in the poultry slaughterhouse of Shahrekord. Polymerase chain reaction assays were used to detect t...

The purification procedure of Clostridium perfringens type A enterotoxin has been improved. The cell sonic extract was precipitated twice with ammonium sulfate, first 40% saturated to concentrate the enterotoxin and then 15% saturated. The two precipitations were followed by gel filtration on Sephadex G-100. The enterotoxin appeared to be homogeneous on 7% polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis aft...
