A Grazing Incidence Metal Mirror (GIMM) is a chief candidate for beam delivery for Inertial Fusion Energy (IFE). The goal for GIMM survival is greater than 3 10 8 laser pulses with 5 J/cm 2 laser fluence normal to the incident beam. Laserinduced damage to metal mirrors is primarily a thermomechanical process. Long-term exposure leads to microstructural evolution analogous to fatigue. We have pe...
A review is presented of recent experiments and diagnostics based on Stark broadening of hydrogen Balmer lines in laser-induced optical breakdown plasmas. Experiments primarily utilize pulsed Nd:YAG laser radiation at 1064-nm and nominal 10 nanosecond pulse duration. Analysis of Stark broadening and shifts in the measured H-alpha spectra, combined with Boltzmann plots from H-alpha, H-beta and H...
LIDL− is a decidable fragment of Interval Duration Logic with Located Constraints, an expressive subset of dense-time Duration Calculus. It has been claimed that, for any LIDL− formulaD, a timed automaton can be constructed which accepts the models of D. However, the proposed construction is incomplete and has not been proved effective. In this paper, we prove the effective construction of equi...
The output energy of 10.6 and 3.25 J with a pulse duration of ~1 ms and a crystal temperature of 85 K was achieved in the Fe:ZnSe and Fe:ZnS lasers, respectively. At room temperature, the Fe:ZnSe laser energy was as high as 1.2 J with a pulse duration of 150 ns. A few optical schemas of the Cr:CdSe laser with laser diode pumping were realized.
Nowadays, carbon fiber reinforced plastics (CFRP) composites is widely used in the aerospace industry due to its excellent mechanical properties. In laser cutting process, high powers are used to cut materials then material melts and burns leaving edges with a high quality finish. To fulfill the high demand of cutting quality, a set of laser cutting parameters of CFRP material are studied. The ...
We theoretically and experimentally studied the dispersion effects in an actively mode-locked inhomogeneously broadened laser. In the positive group velocity dispersion (GVD) region, the laser generates incoherent pulses. Self-phase modulation and resonant dispersion impede reduction of the pulse duration when the GVD is small or near zero. A single, stable, soliton-like pulse can be generated ...
We investigate a variant of dense-time Duration Calculus which permits model checking using timed/hybrid automata. We define a variant of the Duration Calculus, called Interval Duration Logic, (IDL), whose models are timed state sequences [1]. A subset LIDL of IDL consisting only of located time constraints is presented. As our main result, we show that the models of an LIDL formula can be capt...
Deflection of two-level atoms by a pulsed standing wave with a pulse duration of a few nanoseconds is studied by using the density matrix formalism. The effect of the limited coherence time of the pulsed laser field on the momentum distribution of the deflected atoms is investigated. In particular, we determine the coherence time at which the deflection by a pulsed standing wave differs signifi...
INTRODUCTION Parallel transmission is an emerging technique that has great potential in many applications such as reducing selective RF pulse duration and improving B1 and B0 field inhomogeneity in high fields [1-3]. A potential issue in parallel transmission is elevated RF power deposition which is characterized by the specific absorption ratio (SAR). In parallel excitation, the effect of elec...
We use a combination of three techniques for the speciication of processes, data and time: CSP, Object-Z and Duration Calculus. Whereas the combination of CSP and Object-Z is well established by the work of C. Fischer 2, 3], the integration with Duration Calculus is new. The combination is used to specify parts of a novel case study on radio controlled railway crossings.
