This paper presents a new approach to computing 1=r singularities on curved panels. By using carefully chosen mapping techniques, a curved panel with curved edges is mapped to a at panel with straight edges. Analytical formulas for at panel integrals are then used to give approximate curved panel integration solution. For those curved panels with reasonably large curvatures and smooth edges, th...

This paper presents an algorithm to compute an approximation to the general sweep boundary of a 2D curved moving object which changes its shape dynamically while traversing a trajectory. In eeect, we make polygonal approximations to the trajectory and to the object shape at every appropriate instance along the trajectory so that the approximated polygonal sweep boundary is within a given error ...

We intend to clarify the interplay between boundary terms and conformal transformations in scalar-tensor theories of gravity. We first consider the action for pure gravity in five dimensions and show that, on compactifing a la Kaluza-Klein to four dimensions, one obtains the correct boundary terms in the Jordan (or String) Frame form of the Brans-Dicke action. Further, we analyze how the bounda...

Given two distinct points S and E on a simply-connected domain (without holes) enclosed by a closed parametric curve, this paper provides an algorithm to find the shortest interior path (SIP) between the two points in the domain. SIP consists of portions of curves along with straight line segments that are tangential to the curve. The algorithm initially computes point-curve tangents and bitang...

A method dealing with recognition of partially occluded and affine transformed binary objects is presented. The method is designed for objects with smooth curved boundary. It divides an object into affineinvariant parts and uses modified radial vector for the parts description. Object recognition is performed via string matching in the space of radial vectors.

We obtain an embedding theorem for compact strongly pseudoconvex CR manifolds which are bounadries of some complete Hermitian manifolds. We use this to compactify some negatively curved Kähler manifolds with compact strongly pseudoconvex boundary. An embedding theorem for Sasakian manifolds is also derived.

We calculate the integrated trace anomaly for a real spin-0 scalar field in six dimensions in a torsionless curved space without a boundary. We use a path integral approach for a corresponding supersymmetric quantum mechanical model. Weyl ordering the corresponding Hamiltonian in phase space, an extra two-loop counterterm 1 8 (

Models used in real-time graphics are commonly rendered using triangular boundary representations. Triangulation approximates flat surfaces very well, but requires many fine triangles to accurately represent curved surfaces. This project implements two methods for smoothing coarse input meshes using GPU tessellation shaders to obtain smooth surfaces.

Our focus in this paper is on the fundamental system of partial differential equation with boundary conditions (the continuous problem) that all types of numerical methods must respect. First, a constant coefficient hyperbolic system of equations which turns into a variable coefficient system of equations by transforming to a non-cartesian domain is considered. We discuss possible formulations ...
