In the context of unconstraint numerical optimization, this paper investigates the global linear convergence of a simple probabilistic derivative-free optimization algorithm (DFO). The algorithm samples a candidate solution from a standard multivariate normal distribution scaled by a step-size and centered in the current solution. This solution is accepted if it has a better objective function ...

In this paper we present a parallel three-dimensional Navier–Stokes solver for incompressible two-phase flow problems with surface tension. It employs a standard finite difference discretization on uniform Cartesian staggered grids and uses Chorin’s projection approach. The free surface between the two fluid phases is tracked with a level-set approach. Here, the interface conditions are implici...

In order to improve the convergence speed and the drawback of easily converging to the local optimum of the standard particle swarm optimization (PSO), two improved PSO algorithms are presented based on the simple particle swarm optimization algorithm without speed attribute. One is introducing differential mutation technology of differential evolution algorithm into the simple PSO algorithm fo...

With the technological growth of broadband wireless technology like CDMA and UWB , a lots of development efforts towards wireless communication system and Imaging radar system are well justified. Efforts are also being imparted towards a Convergence Technology.. the convergence between a communication and radar technology which will result in ITS ( Intelligent Transport System ) and other appli...

Derivative-free optimization focuses on designing methods to solve optimization problems without the analytical knowledge of the function. In this paper we consider the problem of designing derivative-free methods for finite minimax problems: minx maxi=1,2,...N{fi(x)}. In order to solve the problem efficiently, we seek to exploit the smooth substructure within the problem. Using ideas developed...

In this paper we consider a free boundary problem which describes contact angle dynamics on inhomogeneous surface. We obtain an estimate on convergence rate of the free boundaries to the homogenization limit in periodic media. The method presented here also applies to more general class of free boundary problems with oscillating boundary velocities.

This paper shows that a perturbed form of gradient descent converges to a second-order stationary point in a number iterations which depends only poly-logarithmically on dimension (i.e., it is almost “dimension-free”). The convergence rate of this procedure matches the well-known convergence rate of gradient descent to first-order stationary points, up to log factors. When all saddle points are...

In this paper‎, ‎following a very recent‎ ‎and new approach‎, ‎we further generalize recently introduced‎ ‎summability methods‎, ‎namely‎, ‎$I$-statistical convergence and‎ ‎$I$-lacunary statistical convergence (which extend the important‎ ‎summability methods‎, ‎statistical convergence and lacunary‎ ‎statistical convergence using ideals of $mathbb{N}$) and‎ ‎introduce the notions of $I$-statis...

Reducing income inequality in Africa rests on agricultural total factor productivity (TFP) growth and convergence. Liberalizing trade has emerged as a force of TFP Notwithstanding increasing trade, is falling while the differences rates remain wide. We provide evidence impact liberalization examine by origin, disaggregated into intra-Africa, rest-of-the-world trade. Also, we recognize uniquenes...

in this paper, we use the concept of graph convergence of h(.,.)-co-accretive mapping introduced by [r. ahmad, m. akram, m. dilshad, graph convergence for the h(.,.)-co-accretive mapping with an application, bull. malays. math. sci. soc., doi: 10.1007/s40840-014-0103-z, 2014$] and define an over-relaxed proximal point method to obtain the solution of a generalized variational inclusion problem ...
