A sensitive and specific fluorescence resonance energy transfer (FRET) biosensor was developed by Mizutani and colleagues and applied to detect the activity of BCR-ABL kinase in live cells. This biosensor allowed the detection of cancerous and drug-resistant cells, and the evaluation of kinase inhibitor efficacy. Future biosensor development and imaging can increasingly contribute to cancer dia...

In recent years, efforts have been reported to develop portable biosensor instrument in the detection felid such like pesticide residues. There is a great potential in the applications of biosensor technologies for rapid detection of pesticide residues in food and environment. In other words, meantime, biosensor instrument has wide application in the instruments market. This paper presents an o...

Here we report the development of a whole-cell biosensor to detect and quantify the induction of the SOS response activated by DNA-degrading colicins. This biosensor utilizes the SOS-responsive cda promoter to regulate the expression of green fluorescent protein. The biosensor assay revealed induction of stress for all DNA-degrading reference colicins (E2, E7, and E8).

An amperometric biosensor based on acetylcholinesterase (AChE) immobilized in gelatin was used to develop an assay for the organophosphate paraoxon. The more traditional manner employing preincubation was used for comparison between measurement procedures, although the aim of the study was to examine the performance of the biosensor for real time monitoring of organophosphates. The biosensor wa...

In recent years, development of highly sensitive biosensors is the main purpose of researchers to diagnose and prevent diseases. Accordingly, in this paper, surface plasmon resonance (SPR) biosensor has been designed based on one dimensional layered structures. With regard to the fact that the quality of SPR sensors strongly depends on the reflectance amplitude and full width at half maximum (F...

A label-free ultrasensitive impedimetric biosensor with lectin immobilised on graphene oxide (GO) for the detection of glycoproteins from 1 aM is shown here. This is the first time a functional lectin biosensor with lectin directly immobilised on a graphene-based interface without any polymer modifier has been described. The study also shows that hydrophilic oxidative debris present on GO has a...

A novel capacitance biosensor based on synthetic phytochelatins for sensitive detection of heavy metals is described. Synthetic phytochelatin (Glu-Cys)(20)Gly (EC20) fused to the maltose binding domain protein was expressed in Escherichia coli and purified for construction of the biosensor. The new biosensor was able to detect Hg(2+), Cd(2+), Pb(2+), Cu(2+) and Zn(2+) ions in concentration rang...

A surface plasmon resonance (SPR)-based biosensor was developed for specific detection of nine common respiratory virus, including influenza A and influenza B, H1N1, respiratory syncytial virus (RSV), parainfluenza virus 1-3 (PIV1, 2, 3), adenovirus, and severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus (SARS). The SPR biosensor was developed by immobilizing nine respiratory virus-specific oligonuc...

In this paper, an amperometric glucose biosensor is modeled numerically. The model is based on non-stationary reaction-diffusion type equations. The model consists of four layers. An enzyme layer lies directly on a working electrode surface. The enzyme layer is attached to an electrode by a polyvinyl alcohol (PVA) coated terylene membrane. This membrane is modeled as a PVA layer and a terylene ...
