In this paper we consider the problem of state estimation for linear dynamic systems using quantized measurements. This problem arises when state estimation needs to be done using information transmitted over a digital communication channel. We investigate how to design the quantizer and the estimator jointly.

In transmultiplexing systems digital images are combined into one image in order to be sent through a single communication channel. At the receiver end the combined image is split to recover the transmitted images. Integer−to−integer filters ensure perfect reconstruction. A simple and effective filter designing method is presented in this paper.
