A case of carbamazepine-induced thrombocytopenia is reported. The patient, a 38-year-old female, developed thrombocytopenia 10 days after receiving 400 mg carbamazepine daily. The presence of an anti-IgG carbamazepine-dependent platelet-reactive antibody was documented. Using flow cytometry, the drug-induced antibody was detected at a drug concentration as low as 10(-6) M.

Carbamazepine-induced lupus is uncommon; its frequency is less than 0.001% of the cases of lupus treated. Herein we describe a 52-year-old woman who had development of facial erythema, arthralgia, dyspnea, and multiple pulmonary rounded masses and nodules while she was taking carbamazepine for epilepsy. Pulmonary histologic examination showed bronchiolitis obliterans organizing pneumonia. Antin...

The levels of 14 micropollutants including nine pharmaceuticals, two pesticides, and three endocrine disruptors were measured in a water treatment plant (WTP) in Seoul, Korea. Among the measured micropollutants, 12 (excluding atrazine and triclocarban) were found in the influent and effluent from the WTP, at levels ranging from 2 to 482 ng L(-1). The removal efficiencies of the detected micropo...

The present work aims to study the electrochemical (EC) process applied for removal of contaminants emergent concern (CECs) from wastewater after secondary treatment and effect on total culturable microorganisms. EC experiments were performed in a cylindrical open reactor with 500 mL effluent, fixed current density 8 mA/cm² was through mixed metal oxide electrodes. conducted different sets. In ...

BACKGROUND Carbamazepine is widely accepted as a drug of first choice for patients with partial onset seizures. Several newer drugs possess efficacy against these seizure types but previous randomised controlled trials have failed to inform a choice between these drugs. We aimed to assess efficacy with regards to longer-term outcomes, quality of life, and health economic outcomes. METHODS SAN...

Patients' sera were analyzed for carbamazepine and ethosuximide by enzyme immunoassay (x) and gas chromatography (y), and the results were compared. The correlation coefficients were: for carbamazepine, x vs. y 0.94 (n = 93); for ethosuximide, x vs. y 0.99 (n = 30). These results suggest that the two methods could be used interchangeably. Ten serum samples supplemented with carbamazepine (2.5 t...

Source separated toilet water (black water; BW) is an important alternative nutrient source for agriculture. However, reuse and recovery of nutrients from BW limited by the presence pollutants, such as pathogens micropollutants. In this study, fate micropollutants during thermophilic hyper-thermophilic anaerobic digestion (AD) concentrated vacuum collected assessed. A total eight pharmaceutical...

Monitoring of plasma antiepileptic drugs is useful for better clinical management in epileptic patients, particularly in children. Carbamazepine (CBZ) is one of the commonly prescribed anticonvulsants. The active metabolite of carbamazepine-carbamazepine-10-11 epoxide (CBZ-Epo) also exhibits anticonvulsant effect. The pineal hormone, melatonin exerts an anticonvulsant effect in experimental sei...

leviteracetam (lev) is a novel antiepileptic drug with improved tolerance and safety, while carbamazepine (cbz) represents classical antiepileptic drugs. so far, a systemic comparison of the efficacy and side effects of these two drugs is lacking. a literature review on the comparison of leviteracetam versus carbamazepine for patients with epilepsy was performed up to september 2013 using pubme...
